2018 Jackson 100: Drug test issued today by the Lucas Oil Late Model Series

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series is holding a random drug test today

The Jackson 100 is a Drug Free Sport event

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will be undergoing a random drug test today at the track ahead of the Jackson 100 at Brownstown Speedway. It was announced on Friday afternoon in the drivers meeting.

At the drivers meeting on Friday, all drivers came up to select a number. Ten of those drivers will be required to participate in the random test based on the number selected.

The selected drivers will be required to take the test at Brownstown Speedway today, September 22nd, 2018. Those drivers have been given a specific time period to complete the random test. They will be required to participate in the drug test between 1:30pm and 4:30pm.

This is not the first drug test handed out in dirt late model competition for the year. Nor is it the first tested required by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in 2018.

A little over two months ago, they hosted the same test at Tri-City Speedway on July 13. All drivers passed that previous random drug screening at Tri-City.

It takes about one to two weeks for a test to be fully completed. In the event of a positive test, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series works with the drivers directly to make sure all of the prescription notes are presented to the series for cancelation from the test results.

In the event of a doctors prescription, that obviously wouldn’t enforce a penalty due to a positive test result. That’s assuming the test was positive due to the prescription listed. If a driver tests positive for a specific substance and lacks a prescription for that substance, that would likely bring a suspension to said driver.

The Jackson 100 will conclude tonight at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana. The race winner will pocket a check for $20,000. The race lineups for Saturday have been set following Friday qualifying.

Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series rulebook

The following note is from the LOLMDS rulebook on their drug testing enforcement as well as the penalties that have the potential to be attached to a positive test.

“No driver or crew member may be under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any other controlled substances while competing. The Series reserves the right to require drug testing in order to assist its enforcement of the Series’ no alcohol and no drug policy.”

“Decisions on drug testing and disciplinary action (which may include, but is not limited to immediate ejection from a track, a fine of $500.00, a 90-day suspension, and/or a denial of further entry to Lucas Oil I-10 Race Promotions, Inc. sanctioned events) is at the sole discretion of the Series.”
