Jordan Anderson had a hell of a time getting back from Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Jordan Anderson ran into all kinds of issues on his route back to North Carolina

Jordan Anderson is one of the lone teams that hits for NACSAR events in the road in the old school way. Not only does Jordan Anderson pilot the truck when it gets to the track, he usually hauls the truck to the track as well. Unlike most NASCAR drivers, there’s no plane ticket needed.

Last week, Jordan Anderson left Statesville, North Carolina for Las Vegas, NV. He picked up a 20th place finish for his family owned operation.

It was time to put it back in the box, cross the country once more and return to the North Carolina based shop. The estimated travel time is 1 day and 7 hours, nonstop.

But, the trip would turn out to be much longer for Anderson and the two men with him…

Here’s the timeline of the trip from LVMS to NC.

Monday, September 17th: The trip home began.

Tuesday, September 18th: They hit an elk around 3am near Thoreau, New Mexico. The elk destroyed the truck.

“Not the night we wanted… Stranded in New Mexico until we can get everything fixed and back on the road. Truck took a pretty good beating hitting an elk at 70 mph. Thankfully wasn’t any worse.. all the guys and I are safe and ok,” Anderson tweeted.

“Radiator busted, motor knocked back, all the airbags went off, and the LR hub assembly locked up and housing bent back. Looks worse than what you see. It even broke the bed loose.”

“Truck is done for and totaled unfortunately. Thankfully everyone is ok.”

How about the trailer? Is that ok.

“It did some pretty good damage to it as well. Will know more once we get home and a chance to go over it and unload everything.”

Anderson went on a search for a new truck. Luckily, someone reached out and offered to help the team get back home.

Wednesday, September 19th: A new truck was on loan and they were back on the road.

“We are back on the road headed home!!!”

“It’s been quite an adventure so far. So grateful to the Barrett family and Danny for driving out here from Texas to pick us up and take the trailer home.”

“Our truck will be staying out in New Mexico until we can figure out how bad it is.”

“Finally headed home thanks to some awesome friends from Texas! Should get back to NC tomorrow around midnight.”

“Everything in life has its seasons! The key is to never give up no matter what you’re going through. Everything works out exactly like it’s supposed to.”

Thursday, September 20th: At this point, they had only 15 hours and 51 minutes left in their drive.

12:45am: “Smooth sailing so far! Cruising along on I-40 going through Oklahoma right now.”

8:15am: “Made it to Tennessee! Getting closer.”

A few hours later, they ran into more issues. This time, the trailer had failed. They had it jacked up on the side of the road with wheel damage.

2:15pm: “We’ll get home one of these days.”

9pm: They finally made it home.

“80 hours later! We finally made it after a two day stop in New Mexico. We’re finally back. Thank you to everybody you called to help us out.”

“It’s been a long trip. I think we’re all going to go home tonight, pass out and probably go into a coma for 16 hours. Crazy trip. We’ll get this trailer figured out. We got a few weeks until Talladega. Hopefully, we got everything figured out by then.”

If the team was going to have truck and trailer issues, they picked a good time to have them. The NASCAR Truck Series is off for almost a month between Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will return to the track on October 13th in Talladega, Alabama. Anderson is currently running the full-time schedule. He sits 16th in the standings after Vegas with one top-10 run.
