NASCAR drivers are concerned about The Roval

Clint Bowyer: “I think we all drastically underestimated the Roval.”

NASCAR fans expressed a dislike for the current NASCAR schedule. There’s too many 1.5-mile tracks and the schedule has maintained a stale factor in recent years.

Charlotte Motor Speedway raised their hand and offered to create something unique. Now, a road course is born.

The tire has changed several times for NASCAR’s newest track. Now, Goodyear will be bringing a brand new tire to the track that hasn’t been tested.

The race distance is set at 1,312,336 million′ 0″ or 248.52 miles. Aside from the tire, the track layout has changed multiple times as well. They’ve landed with the 2.28-mile road course configuration featuring 17 turns.

Given all of those items, they elected to place the race in the first round of the playoffs. They didn’t just put it in the Playoffs, it’s a cutoff race in round one. So, this is going to be exciting…

Chase Elliott

“The first round… doing the road course thing is going to be… That cobbled together road course is going to be interesting,” Chase Elliott stated during the Playoff media day.

“I’m sure there will be a lot of crashes. People will be fired up, hurt feelings and everything else. So, it will be good to watch.”

“I think we all drastically underestimated the Roval,” Clint Boywer stated. “I think when they announced the Roval we were all busy doing our day jobs.”

“We went to that test and tore up half the field. We’re all like, ‘Whoa. Hey! This can’t be a cutoff. This can’t even be.’ ”

“It’s too late. We already made that bed.”

“You might see the best race at Richmond in the history of the sport. We all want to win so we don’t even have to show up there.”

Brad Keselowski

“Nobody wants to go to the Roval, be in a cutoff race and not have enough points to make their way through,” says Keselowski.
