Teams will get one lap in round one. The top twelve will advance into round two. The second round will also include single lap runs.
Kyle Larson was 34th on the board at the conclusion of round one. Larson turned a 50.739, nearly two full seconds off the pace. His teammate, Jamie McMurray will start in 31st. Chip Ganassi Racing has an issue here this weekend. Or both teams have just elected to set the car up strictly for race runs.
Round 1 Qualifying – Talladega Superspeedway: 1. Kurt Busch; 2. Clint Bowyer; 3. Kevin Harvick; 4. Aric Almirola; 5. Chase Elliott; 6. Alex Bowman; 7. Jimmie Johnson; 8. William Byron; 9. Denny Hamlin; 10. Kyle Busch; 11. Ricky Stenhouse Jr; 12. Martin Truex Jr;
Those twelve drivers will make a run for the pole position at Talladega Superspeedway. Four Stewart-Haas Racing machines and four Hendrick Motorsports machines have made it through to round two.
Most of these drivers are putting their hands at the window net as they make their laps. That’s to plug the gap between the A pillar and the window net. Every little bit matters when you’re fighting for the hundredths of a second and the pole.
Kurt Busch will start from the pole at Talladega Superspeedway! He tops Clint Bowyer by a tenth of a second!
