World 100 results from Eldora Speedway on October 13th, 2018 in Rossburg, Ohio

Next up, it’s the final portion of the three day World 100 show at Eldora Speedway. The crown jewel dirt late model event is set to conclude on the half-mile dirt track in Rossburg, Ohio.

Sept 6 | Oct 13 (Afternoon) | Oct 13 (Night)

Heat 1 – Report

Jimmy Owens and Scott Bloomquist set the front row in the first heat race of the night. Green, Bloomquist leads on the outside. Owens rubs doors with Lanigan into turn one. Bloomquist leads by five car lengths off turn two.

Lap 2, Owens looks low on Bloomquist into turn one. He’s pinched and has to lift.

Moriarty and Hammer are stop. The caution is out.

Green, Lanigan runs wide in turn one. He comes down off the banking and runs into the door of Richards. Heavy door damage for Lanigan.

3 to go, Josh Richards is slow, no caution. Bloomquist leads Owens by 1.5 second. 2 to go, Shannon Babb is slow. The caution is out.

Green, Thornton runs wide in turn one. Moyer drives under him and takes the final transfer spot.

At the front, Bloomquist takes the win in the first heat race of the night!

Heat 2 – Report

Tim McCreadie and Chris Furguson lead them to the starting line in heat race number two. McCreadei gets the jump. Sheppard rolls to 2nd.

Lap 4, McCreadie moves to the top as Sheppard closes. Sheppard has a look on the inside, McCreadie powers back by on the outside. Lap traffic ahead, they split him.

3 to go, Overton rolls the cushion as Ferguson works the middle. Overton drives by on the outside and takes the final transfer position.

Tim McCreadie takes the win in heat race number two!

Heat 3 – Report

Brian Shirley and Mike Marlar lead them to the flag stand. Green, they run even into turn one. Shirley powers by on the bottom off turn two.

Shirley runs wide into turn three. Marlar drives under him, he takes the lead.

Lap 5, the caution is out.

Green, Marlar leads by two car lengths into turn one. Shirley takes a wide entry into turn one. He lifts as the car pushes off turn two. Moran and Dohm drive by on the inside.

5 to go, Shirley sweeps around the outside of Dohm to retake the final transfer position.

Mike Marlar takes the win in heat race number three!

Heat 4 – Report

Shane Clanton and Chris Madden trail the pace truck ahead of heat race number four. Green, Clanton leads through the middle. Tyler Erb battles for 2nd with Madden. They cross and Madden holds the position.

Lap 5, Duane Chamberlain and Dustin Nobbe are in a heavy crash. Roll over and the red flag is out. Both drivers climb from the race car.

Green, Clanton leads on the bottom. Madden heads to the top. Madden has a run off the corner. He has a look but Clanton holds the position. Don O’Neal sweeps around Erb for 3rd.

5 to go, Chris Madden is slow! He heads to the pit area, no caution.

Shane Clanton cruises to the win in heat race number four!

Heat 5 – Report

Bobby Pierce and Brian Birkhofer line up on row one for heat race number five. Green, they run even into turn one. Pierce rotates the center and Birkhofer is already on the gas around the top. Birkhofer leads off turn two.

Lap 4, Bobby Pierce tags the wall. Robinson drives to the inside and takes over 2nd.

Lap 12, Birkhofer is struggling with the lap car. Robinson is closing quickly. Birkhofer works around the lap car. Robinson is still closing.

1 to go, Robinson looks to the inside. He can’t fight the high side momentum. Birkhofer wins the race to the the the start finish line!

Heat 6 – Report

Shanon Buckingham and Devin Gilpin lead them to the starting line in heat six. Green, Earl Pearson Jr has a look on the bottom from row two. Gilpin leads out of turn two.

Bronson slides Buckingham, he lifts and the field drives by on the inside.

5 to go, Bronson and Pearson are both running down Gilpin. They’re going to run out of time.

Devin Gilpin wins the final heat race of the night at Eldora Speedway!

2018 World 100 – Report

It took a month to complete the show. Now, the World 100 main event is next. Devin Gilpin and Brian Birkhofer will lead the field to the starting line. The drivers line up in a four wide salute for the Ohio dirt track racing crowd.

Green flag, Gilpin gets the jump on the bottom. Clanton battles side by side for 2nd with Birkhofer. Birkhofer holds him off on the top. Clanton remains on the bottom, he rolls it again, move Clanton to 2nd.

Lap 8, Clanton has run down the leader. He looks to the inside of Gilpin. He pinches him on the exit and Gilpin holds the lead.

Lap 15, Tim McCreadie is coming in a hurry. He’s climbed to the back bumper of Clanton. McCreadie moves to the bottom. Gilpin opens a gap to both of them as he slices through lap traffic.

Lap 25, Gilpin leads Clanton and McCreadie by 1.2 seconds. Jimmy Owens and Scott Bloomquist are beginning to close in on McCreadie.

Lap 29, McCreadie narrows his entry to turn 1. He’s digging for moisture on the bottom. Clanton slides through the center. McCreadie gets the drive on the exit of turn two on the bottom. They run side by side into turn three. McCreadie completes the pass back in turn one, move him to 2nd.

Lap 35, Tyler Erb is rolling the cushion. He’s climbed from 16th to the 6th position. He’s about to swing around Bloomquist on the outside. Pierce started 17th, he’s up to 8th. Both of those drivers work the high side while the field remains on the bottom.

Lap 36, the caution is out. Mike Marlar is slow on the track. Zeigler heads to the pit lane for new rear tires.

Green, Gilpin is clear at the flag stand. Owens works around McCreadie. McCreadie fights back on the outside, he retakes the position.

Lap 42, McCreadie has caught the leader. McCreadie is looking low. He’s got a run down low off turn four. McCreadie leads back into turn one. Bloomquist is working Owens, he takes the position through the middle of the race track.

Lap 56, Brian Birkhofer pulls the pit area under green. Bloomquist is all over the bumper of Gilpin for 2nd. They cross off turn four. Bloomquist takes the position into turn one. Gilpin fights back on the outside, he retakes the position!

Lap 70, McCreadie leads by 3.5 seconds. Lap 75, Owens rolls by Gilpin to take 2nd. Bloomquist follows him through.

Lap 84, Bobby Pierce is slow. The caution is out! Pierce heads to the pit area for a new rear tires. McCreadie had a six second lead, that’s now gone.

Green, McCreadie gets the jump, he leads into turn one. Owens slots in 2nd. Overton heads for the cushion, he’s coming in a hurry. From 6th to 3rd in two laps. Tyler Erb follows him through. Each of them run right against the wall.

11 to go, Overton tags the wall. Tyler Erb slides him for 3rd.

8 to go, McCreadie leads Owens by 2 seconds. He runs right against the inside wall.

McCreadie is gone. Tyler Erb and Owens battle for 2nd. Tyler Erb tags the wall off turn two.
