Martinsville Truck Race Results: October 27, 2018

NASCAR Truck Series race results from Martinsville Speedway on October 27, 2018

Today, the NASCAR Truck Series will take to the 0.526-mile oval of Martinsville Speedway. The Ridgeway, Virginia hosts the opening race in the Round of 6 in the NASCAR Truck Series Playoffs.

Todd Gilliland and Harrison Burton will lead the field to the starting line. The Texas Roadhouse 200 is next, a short 200 lap event.

Stage 1
Martinsville Truck Race

Laps: 50

Green flag, Burton is late to the gas. He lets his teammate drop to the bottom. Gilliland leads into turn one. Rhodes is fighting Burton on the outside. Rhodes noses ahead but Burton wins the battle.

Lap 3, Enfinger shuts the door on Gragson heading into turn three. The rub right front to left rear but Gragson pumps the brakes to let him in. That was a battle for 5th.

Lap 25, Gilliland leads Burton by 2 seconds.

Lap 32, Burton has cut the lead to 0.7 seconds. The leaders are in lap traffic. Johnny Sauter is using up his door to climb to the front.

Lap 35, the caution is out. Chid Finley is around into turn three. He backs it into the fence. The leaders head to the pit lane. Gilliland will restart in 13th. Johnny Sauter stayed out, he’ll collect the lead.

Green, Sauter gets the jump on Gragson on the outside lane. Sauter leads off turn two. Gragson is blocking Crafton to hold 2nd.

Johnny Sauter wins stage 1 in the truck race at Martinsville! Tyler Ankrum runs 7th. This is his first NASCAR Truck Series race ever.

Stage 2
Martinsville Truck Race

Laps: 50

Sauter will remain on the race track. Several other trucks head to the pit lane.

Green flag,

Green, Sauter leads. Lap 63, the crowd stands. This is to show support for NASCAR team owner Mike Mittler.

Stewart Friesen has a flat tire. He jumps on the brakes and loops it at corner entry but he avoids the wall in turn one. The caution is out.

Green, Sauter gets the jump. Gragson is blocking Crafton once again into turn three.

Lap 75, Todd Gilliland has climbed to 5th after pitting late in stage one. He’s the first car on new tires.

11 to go in stage 2, Crafton throws a block on Enfinger into turn three. Enfinger gives him a bump then he jumps to the outside. Enfinger overshoots the corner. Gilliland drives through the middle of them. He completes the pass for 3rd on the outside as they head into turn one.

2 to go, Gragson has caught the leader. They race through lap traffic.

Sauter hangs on to take the win in stage two of the truck race at Martinsville!

Stage 3
Martinsville Truck Race

Laps: 100

The skies darker ahead of stage three. The field heads for the pit lane. Sauter is first in and first off. Snider and Rhodes take two tires. Kyle Benjamin stays out on the track.

Green, Benjamin and Sauter run even into turn one. Benjamin slides the rear and Sauter noses ahead on the exit of turn two. Benjamin gets into his left rear into turn three and Sauter tried to shut the door. The back end steps out, Sauter saves it and takes the lead.

Lap 120, John Hunter Nemechek had a tire rub and the field stacked up behind him. Ben Rhodes moves him out of the way. Nemechek loses several positions.

Lap 150, Johnny Sauter leads by nearly 5 seconds. Benjamin has maintained 2nd on old worm tires. Snider and Rhodes took two tires on the last stop, they run 3rd and 4th.

Lap 152, Dawson Cram is around on the front stretch. The caution is back out. Friesen put the bumper to him. Cram pinched him to hold the position after the bump. A few laps later, Cram went around.

Most of the field remains on the race track. Gragson is the first car to the pit lane. He had almost fallen outside the top 10 with a tight condition.

Green, Benjamin spins the tires on the outside. Snider looks to the inside of Sauter into turn one. They bang doors for the lead as Snider drove it deep and overshot the entry. Several trucks stack up behind them, Enfinger is around as is Chase Purdy.

Green, Sauter noses ahead on the outside at the entry to turn one. Sauter clears him off turn two.

30 to go, the field is lining up behind Kyle Benjamin. He last pitted on lap 39 but he’s holding 3rd.

25 to go, Brett Moffitt is on the inside of Benjamin. Moffitt takes 3rd. Rhodes follows him through. Nemechek heads to the garage.

20 to go, Moffitt is rubbing on the rear bumper of Snider. Several laps later, he’s now knocking the bumper off. 14 to go, Moffitt has a run off turn four. He looks to the bottom in turn one. Snider tries to block, Moffitt takes 2nd.

10 to go, Sauter leads Moffitt by 3.7 seconds.
