NASCAR starting lineup for November 11th, 2018 at ISM Raceway

Today, they’ll set the Phoenix starting lineup for the NASCAR race on Sunday. This race is the last chance for drivers to advance to the championship round of the NASCAR Playoffs.

This is the first MENCS race at the reconfigured ISM Raceway. The track is the same but everything else has changed. The start/finish line, the turns and the grandstands have all been moved to the opposite side of the race track.

Round 1 – Report
ISM Raceway

Duration: 15 minutes (Top 24 advance)

Drama early in Phoenix NASCAR qualifying! Martin Truex Jr has failed pre-qualifying inspection four times. On the fourth time through the OSS, they passed.

With 13 minutes remaining, they are heading to the final check point. Martin Truex Jr will lose his car chief for the rest of the race weekend.

5 minutes remaining, Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch sit at the top of the board. Each of those drivers turned just one lap.

3 minutes to go, Martin Truex Jr sits 12th, he’s in. Truex wasn’t sure about his race car after making so many changes to get through NASCAR inspection.

2 minutes remain, part-time driver Matt Kenseth jumps to the top of the board! ISM Raceway was the track that hosted Kenseth’s last win.

Matt Kenseth wins round one of NASCAR qualifying in Phoenix! All eight NACSAR Playoff drivers advance to round two.

Round 2 – Report
ISM Raceway

Duration: 10 minutes (Top 12 advance)

Halfway in round two, Chase Elliott sits at the top of the board. He turned a 25.823, several tenths quicker than the pace in round one.

4 minutes remain, Clint Bowyer is on the bubble. Aric Almirola is 17th. He got loose off turn four on his lap and barely clipped the wall, just under the flag stand.

Round 3 – Report
ISM Raceway

Duration: 5 minutes (Run for pole)

Alex Bowman and Ricky Stenhouse Jr are the first cars on the track. 25.898 for Stenhouse, his second lap was the quicker of the two.

A minute and a half remains, Harvick to the top of the board! He was set to go even quicker on lap two but the back end stepped out off turn four and it broke the lap time.

Kevin Harvick will start from the pole at ISM Raceway! He was in last week. Following inspection, the win was taken away. Now, he’s back to win another one.
