ISM Raceway results for the NASCAR Cup Series race on November 11th, 2018 in Phoenix, Arizona

Today, the NASCAR Cup Series takes to the 1.022-mile oval of ISM Raceway in Phoenix, Arizona. It’s the final elimination race of the 2018 NASCAR Playoffs. At the finish, the Championship 4 drivers will be set. One driver (Joey Logano) is locked in, 7 more fight for the remaining three spots.

This marks the first NASCAR Cup Series race on the reconfigured ISM Raceway. $178 million dollars later… the start finish line, the grandstands and the corners have all been flipped. The old turn three, is now the new turn one. The start finish line, it’s in the dogleg.

Kevin Harvick and Chase Elliott will lead the field to the green. 312-laps of the Can-Am 500 is next!

Stage 1 – Report
ISM Raceway

Laps: 75

Green flag, Kevin Harvick is clear by a car length out of the dogleg. Elliott slots in 2nd as they run three wide behind him.

Lap 20, Chase Elliott has closed to within a car length of the leader. Lap 25, Harvick opens the gap back up, he’s controlling the pace.

Lap 45, Kyle Larson has migrated to the high side of the race track. He’s running lane three and working in a groove to his own. The rest of the field remains on or under the yellow line. Larson is up to 8th.

Lap 55, Clint Bowyer needs a a win today. He’s trying but the backend just stepped out and he tagged the outside wall at the flag stand. He has a loose condition and now he has light right rear damage.

3 to go in stage 1, Harvick is slow! The race leader has a flat tire! Harvick heads to the pit lane under green as the splitter and side skirts drag the ground.

Chase Elliott takes the win in stage 1 of the NASCAR race at ISM Raceway! Wow!

Stage 2 – Report
ISM Raceway

Laps: 75

The field heads to the pit lane. Chase Elliott is first in and first off. Kurt Busch is off 2nd.

Green on stage two, Chase Elliott cuts the dogleg. Kurt Busch heads to the top in turn one. Kyle Larson is working three lanes under the yellow line, the apron. Larson gets sideways as he rejoins the track. Busch is on the right rear of Elliott off turn two! Elliott leaves the lane open. Kurt Busch carries the high side momentum to the lead down the back stretch.

Lap 93, Kevin Harvick just drove by McMurray for 22nd. That makes him the first car one lap down.

Lap 97, Logano has a flat tire in the dogleg. He slides sideways into turn one and makes light contact with the outside wall. Harvick will get the free pass, he’s back on the lead lap.

Green, Kurt Busch gets the jump. Blaney cuts the dogleg. He rejoins the track nearly even with Busch. Blaney gets sideways as the car transitions from the apron back onto the race track. The car bottomed out, he collected it but he falls to 3rd.

Lap 125, Kevin Harvick has been working on Ryan Newman. Harvick looks to the inside and Newman hangs on his right rear for half a lap. Harvick is clear and he has his hand out of the window as he drives by.

Lap 134, Clint Bowyer is hard in the wall. He lost a left rear tire into turn three and pounded the wall. The caution is out.

All the leaders head for the pit lane. Blaney, Kyle Busch and more head for the pit lane. Kurt Busch was the leader, he’ll restart 9th. Penalty to Kurt Busch! He passed the pace car on pit entry. Martin Truex Jr and William Byron lead them to the green, Harvick will be 3rd.

Green, Truex is clear by several car lengths into turn one. Harvick runs side by side with Byron for 2nd, Harvick takes the position. Kyle Busch is four wide into turn one on the bottom, he restarted in row five. Kyle Busch is on the move, he sweeps around Harvick quickly to take 2nd.

6 to go in stage two, Busch has caught Truex. He drives right by and assumes the lead.

Stage 3 – Report
ISM Raceway

Laps: 162

Kyle Busch remains on the race track. The cars who didn’t pit come to the pit lane.

Green on the final stage, Kyle Busch gets the jump on Keselowski. Hamlin fights for 2nd but Keselowski wins that battle.

Lap 200, Kyle Busch leads Keselowski by 0.6 seconds. Chase Elliott just worked by Ryan Blaney to take 3rd. It’s turning into a fuel race. Several teams can just barely make it with one more pit stop.

Lap 220, Chase Elliott has climbed to the bumper of Keselowski. Elliott looks low through the dogleg. Elliott noses ahead into turn one. Lap 222, Hamlin comes to pit road with a flat tire. Lap 225, no pit stop needed, Elliott drives by Kyle Busch on the bottom to take the lead.

Lap 227, Kyle Busch heads to the pit lane, Almirola follows him there. Lap 228, Harvick hits the pit lane as well. Tanner Berryhill spins on his way to pit road, the caution is out! Harvick was on pit lane but he went a lap down.

11 cars are on the lead lap. Chase Elliott heads to the pit lane. Brad Keselowski is the first car to the pit exit. Penalty to Chase Elliott, speeding on pit road!

Green, Keselowski gets the jump. Martin Truex Jr moves into 2nd. Blaney blocks Erik Jones. Blaney is slow, he heads to the pit lane under green.

74 to go, Kurt Busch and Kevin Harvick are running door to door for 8th. This is a battle for the final for the final points position in the Championship 4, they’re separated by 1 point. David Ragan is a lap car in Harvick’s lane. He gets into the back of him and Ragan goes around, the caution is out.

Green, Keselowski cuts the dogleg. He slides ahead of Truex into turn one. Larson gets a run on Truex and Jones off turn two, they run three wide into turn three, Larson takes 2nd.

49 to go, Ricky Stenhouse Jr is hard in the wall! It’s a mix of who comes to pit road and who doesn’t. Most come, Kurt Busch and Erik Jones stay out.

Green, Erik Jones cuts the dogleg, Kurt Busch doesn’t. Erik Jones leads into turn one, he gets loose on the bottom! He pushes Busch up the hill. Hamlin moves to the lead on the bottom.

Hamlin gets loose of the corner and slams into Kurt Busch off turn two. They bang doors, Busch bounces off the wall and back into Hamlin. The #11 is sideways in front of the field, he clips Chase Elliott. Kevin Harvick slips right through the middle. Chase Elliott and Kurt Busch are two championship contenders with heavy damage.

Green, Kyle Busch cuts the dog leg. Erik Jones rolls the top in turn one, they run even off turn two. Jones is clear, he cuts to the bottom. Back in turn one, Busch jumps to the top. Busch takes the lead off turn two.

Almirola is in a must win situation for his championship hopes. Harvick is 3rd on the track and 4th in the championship standings.

27 to go, Bowman is on fire. The engine expired, he slid through the oil and caught the wall. The caution is out again.

Green, Busch is clear of Almirola into turn one. Harvick slots into 3rd. Keselowski climbs to 4th with new tires.

17 to go, Tanner Berryhill is in the wall. The caution is back out.

Only 12 laps remain at ISM Raceway. Green, Busch is clear by two car lengths into turn one. Almirola runs wide and comes under fire from the field. Keselowski to third.

10 to go, Keselowski is clear of Almirola on the bottom. Keselowski has four new tires. Busch leads by a full second.

5 to go, Keselowski has run it down to 0.5 seconds. Keselowski gets loose off turn two. He looses ground.
