Greg Biffle explains interest in a return to NASCAR

Greg Biffle has a plan to bring his helmet to Daytona International Speedway

Greg Biffle ran 510 races in his Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series career. In his 15-year career, he collected 19 race wins at the highest level of stock car racing.

Following the 2016 season, Greg Biffle was abruptly let go. He did new renew with Roush Fenway Racing and failed to locate a ride for 2017.

In recent years, Biffle has been battling his ex-wife. Nicole Lunders took Biffle to court on an invasion of privacy lawsuit.

Biffle had cameras installed inside his home for security purposes. Some of those cameras were placed in the guest bedroom and the master bathroom of the Lake Norman residence.

Biffle consistency insisted he did nothing wrong. He stated that the cameras were installed to catch maids which he believed were stealing from him.

Biffle claimed the camera was aimed at a closet inside the bathroom where some valuables were stored.

The court declared Biffle guilty but award Lauders $1 in damages. The jury could not come to an agreement on the amount of punitive damages.

The case returned to court the following week. She then won an additional $250,000 in punitive damages.

It was widely speculated that case was the reason Biffle lost his ride with Roush Fenway Racing to begin with. An early addition of the lawsuit listed a RFR employee who installed the cameras inside the home. 

Case closed. That’s all behind him now.

“Well, I’m coming to Daytona. That’s part of a plan. I guess that’s the first part of a plan,” Greg Biffle explained to Dave Moody on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

“I’m going to bring my gear, just in case. You just never know when they might need somebody.”

Biffle has been in a NASCAR race car of any sort since the 2016 season.

“I’ve said the same thing for awhile now. Certainly, if the right opportunity comes up… I’d jump back in there and have a little fun and win some more races.”

“I don’t know if I want to do a full-time. Well, I wouldn’t say I don’t know.” Biffle corrected himself, “I wouldn’t do a full-time Xfinity or Truck program. I certainly would entertain doing some races.”

“It’s a hell of a lot of fun, racing NASCAR. I enjoyed it for a long time. If somebody called me up, I’d have a hard time saying I wouldn’t.”
