After 26 consecutive years in the series, Roush Fenway Racing pulls their NASCAR Xfinity Series team from the lineup
Roush Feway Racing has run a total of 1,698 NASCAR Xfinity Series races since their series debut with Mark Martin in 1993. In recent years, the team has fielded two cars in NXS competition. Last year, their NXS cars were fielded by Chase Briscoe, Austin Cindric, Ty Majeski and Ryan Reed.
For 2019, that portion of the operation will close. Instead, the team will focus all of their efforts on the NASCAR Cup Series. Ricky Stenhouse Jr and Ryan Newman will be the MENCS drivers for 2019.
On Wednesday night, Roush Fenway Racing President Steve Newmark confirmed the news.
“We’re going to focus exclusively on both of those Cup teams (in 2019) and realized we needed to allocate all of our resources there,” Newmark told Claire B. Lang via SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
