Dennis Erb Jr to run World of Outlaws Late Model Series tour in 2019

Dennis Erb Jr comments on the switch for the 2019 dirt late model racing season

Dennis Erb Jr from Carpentersville, Illinois is set to make a change to his dirt racing program for 2019. The #28 Dirt Late Model has run with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series since 2012.

In 2018, there was a battle toward the back of the Lucas Oil Series points sheet. Until Hudson O’Neal’s shoulder injury the series had 14 regulars. On the Lucas tour, only the top 12 in points receive a series regular bonus.

That bonus check is crucial for teams that live on the highway. Dennis Erb Jr, Gregg Satterlee, Mason Zeigler and Kyle Bronson found themselves in a battle for the 11th and 12th position in the standings. Each of them spent time in and out of the top 12.

When Hudson O’Neal went into surgery, one position was freed up. That left only one regular without a bonus check and it got a little easier for all those guys.

Dennis Erb Jr’s best LOLMDS showing came in 2013 where he finished 5th in series standings as Jimmy Owens claimed the title.

For 2019, there’s a shift in the program. The 46-year-old dirt racer will run with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series. It’s his first attempt at running the entire WoOLMS in racing career.

The 2019 World of Outlaws Late Model Series season features 47 races at 36 different dirt facilities in 16 states.

Dennis Erb Jr on running with the World of Outlaws

“It was a very tough decision on what series to run this year, but with the World of Outlaws deal, it just makes more sense for us,” Dennis Erb, Jr said on Tuesday.

“I keep looking for negative reasons to not follow their tour and I really can’t find any. They have a great schedule and race a lot out here in our direction.”

“Plus, it opens up some things where we can still run some of the big Lucas Oil shows, some Summer Nationals stuff, and some other different races that we haven’t been able to run in the past.”

“I’m really looking forward to this year and hopefully we can win some races, be consistent, and be around at the end of the year to vie for the series Championship!”
