2020 NASCAR schedule released

The NASCAR championship finale is set to head to a short track for the 2020 racing season; Double-header race weekend announced

The highly anticipated 2020 NASCAR schedule has just made it’s debut. Officials announced the upcoming schedule via a live broadcast on various channels.

The biggest change involves ISM Raceway. Homestead-Miami Speedway has hosted the season ending race since the inception of the chase.

For 2020, that will change. Following a massive $178 million investment of capital into the race track, it will now host the season finale in Phoenix, Arizona.

The regular season will now end at Daytona International Speedway. Darlington Raceway will host playoff opener.

Previously, Pocono Raceway hosted two NASCAR events within a span of six weeks. That race weekend will now see a double-header of two MENCS events.

Martinsville Speedway will now have a night race.

“The fans and the industry as a whole have been vocal about the desire for sweeping changes to the schedule, and the 2020 slate is a reflection of our efforts to execute against that feedback,” said Steve O’Donnell, NASCAR executive vice president and chief racing development officer.

“These changes are the result of unprecedented consensus-building with our race tracks and broadcast partners; something we look to continue into 2021 and beyond.”
