Rain rolled into the track overnight. That has washed off the rubber and deactivated the track bite. MENCS practice was a washout this morning.
NXS qualifying has been delayed. As a result, these qualifying session has been trimmed from three rounds to just two.
In addition, the temperatures have dropped significantly in the area. It’s down to 41 degrees in Fort Worth, Texas this morning.
Texas Xfinity Qualifying
Round 1 – Report
Duration: 10 minutes (Top 12 advance)
Most of the field pulls to the edge of the pit lane. They don’t want to be the first car on the track. Not for drafting but because the track is green.
Additionally, the PJ1 trackbite needs heat to become active. Until then, it’s going to be slick.
As the field hits the track, Bell quickly falls outside the top 12. Going out first was not the strategy. Tyler Reddick leads round one with 4 minutes remaining.
Jeremy Clements jumps to 4th on the board. However, his time has been disallowed. Clements was speeding on his exit of the pit lane.
3 minutes remain, Garrett Smithley has spun on the race track. The red flag is out. All the cars that were on the track will need to return to the pit lane. Bell was one of those cars.
The green is back out. Bell jumps well inside the top-10. With just one minute remain, Brad Keselowski is on the bubble spot. Jeffrey Earnhardt knocks him out!
Brad Keselowski is back on track. He jumps to 6th. Michael Annett and Jeffrey Earnhardt are bumped.
Brandon Jones wins the opening round of Xfinity qualifying at Texas Motor Speedway!

Tyler Reddick made it to round two with just one lap in round one. He’s at the top of the board with 2 minutes remaining.
Jones to the top. Bell tops him as one minute remains. Justin Allgaier bails on his 2nd lap.
