Kyle Busch made a bold pass through the grass at Texas Motor Speedway (Video)

NASCAR driver Kyle Busch passed his brother and Kevin Harvick at the same time while racing off-track at Texas Motor Speedway

Kyle Busch started off the weekend with two wins in the minor leagues. A win the NASCAR Truck Series on Friday was followed by a win in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

He came into Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race with the opportunity to sweep another weekend. He came up short after a few mistakes.

Busch was leading with 54 laps remaining. He got loose, slid up the track and fell to 5th.

With the race coming to a close, Busch felt a sense of urgency. However, while racing with a group inside the top five he ran out of race track exiting turn two. Busch smacked the wall and was forced to make an early pit stop in the final stage of the race.

“We made an adjustment on the second-to-last pit stop to tighten it up and it got loose,” said Kyle Busch after Texas Motor Speedway.

“I was just trying to keep the lap time going and keep the speed in it and it busted loose on me and I had to catch it. Once I did that and got back in dirty air, (I) was just trying to race back up to the front with those guys.”

“Should have just been more patient and just waited for the pit cycles to come up and try to pass them on pit road but got impatient and smacked the fence.”

Dale Earnhardt
Pass in the grass

You’ve seen the pass in the grass before. The brief version of the clip has been shown so many times that it’s tricked people into thinking it was an actual pass.

The extended version is highlighted above. You should watch it.

It was the 1987 Winston that featured the original ‘Pass in the grass’ between Dale Earnhardt and Bill Elliott. Earnhardt went on to win that race after aggressively holding off Elliott via his rear bumper.

Only, nobody passed anyone. Dale Earnhardt was just blocking his ass off with 8 laps to go at Charlotte Motor Speedway. It was something special.

It was a really bad-ass block in the grass.

Kyle Busch
Pass in the grass

Kyle Busch finished 10th on Sunday. But, he put on a hell of a show while in the middle of the pack on lap 94 of stage 2.

Over the weekend in Texas, Kyle Busch passed two cars while simultaneously sliding through the grass.

Kyle Busch had a run off turn four. At the same time, his brother Kurt Busch was side drafting Kevin Harvick. As both of those cars stalled each other out, Kyle Busch was closing quickly.

He didn’t lift. Instead, he drove right to the grass and let the dust fly. Busch passed both cars while sliding through the grass in the second section of the tri-oval.

All three remained three wide heading into turn one. As they got to the corner, Kyle Busch had a narrow entry to the corner. He also hit the apron and the car wobbled.

One of the positions he just gained were once again lost as he lifted out of the throttle. His brother Kurt was forced to lift as well, Kyle maintained that position +1.

But for a brief moment or for about 500 feet, Kyle Busch successfully passed two cars in the grass at the same time.
