Talladega Superspeedway race results for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series in Alabama

Today, the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series unloads in Talladega, Alabama. The 2.66-mile oval of Talladega Superspeedway is set for the green flag.

Talladega Race
Stage 1 – Report

Laps: 55

Green, Dillon noses ahead on the bottom into turn one. Almirola gets the run from the high side off turn two. He drops to the bottom. Keselowski drives around him on the outside. Keselowski drops to the bottom, he leads.

Lap 5, there’s three lanes of traffic throughout the field. The front five run single file, Keselowski leads.

Lap 9, Logano leads the outside lane. The clear the inside and Logano drops to the bottom. Team Penske control the top three positions.

Lap 11, Bubba Wallace is on the bumper of Ryan Blaney. With a light touch to the left rear bumper, Blaney gets out of shape and Wallace cuts to the bottom before sliding back up the track in turn one. Several cars are collected.

The field heads to the pit lane.

Pit Road Penalties: Chase Elliott, Ryan Blaney, Kyle Busch and Ryan Preece.

Green, Logano gets the jump. Almirola fights back on the bottom with help from Keselowski.

Lap 30

Lap 30, Joey Logano leads a run from the outside lane with help from Ryan Blaney. Logano takes the lead on the outside as Blaney gets shuffled out of traffic and falls to the back.

Lap 33, Logano gets shuffled out of line. Larson now leads the outside train.

Lap 45, the field runs single file around the bottom. Aric Almirola continues to lead.

8 to go in stage 1, several cars are in danger of running out of fuel. Almirola pits from the lead. Keselowski and others follow.

Pit Road Penalty: Almirola is too fast entering.

6 to go, Truex gives up the lead on purpose. He doesn’t think he can make it if he leads to the end. Ty Dillon takes over the top spot with a push from Alex Bowman.

Ty Dillon holds them off to win stage 1 at Talladega Superspeedway!

Stage 2 – Report

Laps: 55

The remainder of the field heads for the pit lane. Elliott and Bowman lead them to the restart.

Pit Road Penalties: Daniel Hemric, Clint Bowyer, Ross Chastain, Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr, Corey LaJoie, Daniel Suarez, Jimmie Johnson, Brendan Gaughan and Parker Kligerman. All but Truex pitted while pit road was closed. Truex had too many men over the wall.

Green flag on stage two, Chase Elliott drops down in front of Bowman as they lead off turn two. Elliott blocks a run from Bowman at the top. Bowman leads on the bottom.

Lap 68, Keselowski storms back to the front. He has help from Aric Almirola on the outside lane.

Keselowski leads by five car lengths, that’s not good. Logano gets a huge run, he jumps to the outside and Kyle Busch follows. They drive to the lead.

Lots of mixing at the front of the field. It’s aggressive at the front and it’s changing quickly. Blaney now leads but Stenhouse leads a change around the top.

Lap 83

Lap 83, the Chevrolet group heads for the pit lane.

It’s now lap 91, the Ford group heads for the pit lead, led by Ricky Stenhouse Jr. The next lap, Kyle Busch leads the much smaller Toyota group to the pit lane.

Stenhouse leads the Ford group. They sweep around the Toyota group as they get up to speed. Stenhouse retakes the lead.

Chase Elliott has a run on Stenhouse. The #17 runs the #9 all the way to the outside wall. Elliott is around the outside and Keselowski runs the inside, they split Stenhouse. Elliott now holds the lead.

10 to go in stage two, Chase Elliott leads a train of Hendrick teammates on the bottom lane. Ryan Blaney leads a train of Fords around the top but they can’t make ground.

Chase Elliott takes the win in stage two!

Stage 3 – Report

Laps: 78

Chase Elliott leads the field to the pit lane. He’s first in and first off. Four tires for everyone.

Green flag on stage 3, Elliott gets the jump. Bowman lines up behind him.

57 to go, the caution is out. The field returns to the pit lane. Erik Jones is out first with two tires.

Green, Jones leads on the inside. Blaney works the middle as Keselowski moves to the outside by himself in lane three. Both Penske drivers fall to the back as Jones holds the lead.

50 to go, Joey Logano leads a train on the outside. Aric Almirola leaves Jones to try and catch that pack, too late, he misses. The inside lane slows and Logano drives to the front on the outside.

The Toyota’s surface. Martin Truex Jr to the front. Daniel Suarez works the outside lane.

38 to go, Logano looks to the outside, Keselowski gives him a shove in the right side of the rear bumper. Logano is sideways at the start finish line but he saves it. A lap later, same move, this time the bump is lined up better and Keselowski pushes Logano around the outside of Truex. They split Truex 4 wide behind them. Logano leads as two Team Penske cars follow.

33 to go, the Toyota group heads to the pit lane. 32 to go, Keselowski and the Fords pit. Keselowski wheel hops and spin right into his pit stall! The crew pits him backwards.

24 to go

Ricky Stenhouse Jr cycles back to the lead. He leads Joey Logano as the front ten cars run single file.

21 to go, Daniel Suarez leads a train on the outside lane. Joey Logano pulls out from behind Stenhouse and catches the outside lane. Logano gets a push to the front and cuts right to the bottom. Joey Logano retakes the lead.

14 to go, Logano blocks both lanes. Kyle Busch works to his inside, side by side for the lead. 13 t go, with a push from Blaney and Stenhouse, Logano and all three are clear. The Fords drop to the bottom, Logano now leads on the bottom.

10 to go, Ryan Blaney blocks a run from Martin Truex Jr. He’s loose, Blaney chases it up the hill and he drops to the back. Logano holds the lead with Kyle Busch on his bumper.

Red flag: 7 to go

7 to go, Chris Buescher is in the wall! Aric Almirola had a run, he looked to the middle. Buescher pulled down to block and Almirola instead clipped him in the right side of the rear bumper. Buescher was turned right into the fence down the back stretch. McDowell came into the scene with nowhere to go and plowed under him. Truex was collected as well.

Green, Logano gets a huge shove from Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Kurt Busch bails on Kyle Busch. Kurt Busch noses Stenhouse out of the way. Logano throws a huge block on Kurt Busch!

Chase Elliott drives to the lead on the inside as Logano and Kurt Busch stall each other.

2 to go, Chase Elliott leads Alex Bowman on the bottom. Stenhouse is in the wall at the flag stand, no caution.

Elliott leads Bowman. They crash behind them down the back stretch. Larson is upside down!

The caution is out and Chase Elliott takes the win at Talladega Superspeedway!
