Car chief ejected from Dover International Speedway

NASCAR inspection penalty at Dover International Speedway

Aric Almirola was penalized ahead of Friday’s qualifying round at Dover International Speedway.

The Stewart-Haas Racing team failed their first two attempts through the inspection line. As a result, Chad Haney was ejected from the speedway for the remainder of the race weekend.

The team did pass inspection of their third attempt. Almirola took to the track and put it 7th on the board.

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series still has multiple session left in the race weekend. Two rounds of practice on on the schedule for Saturday.

Additional inspections remain as well as this is not an impound weekend with less than normal inspections. The green flag will drop on the race come Sunday afternoon with the inspection line open once more ahead of the race.

Aric Almirola has an average finish of 16th at Dover International Speedway. 5th is is his best run at the track, which he claimed twice during the 2015 season.


NASCAR Inspection Failures: Rule book

Inspection infractions have been amplified for 2019. The new violations and penalties are as follows:

1 NASCAR inspection failure: No harm, come back and try again.

2 NASCAR inspection failures: A crew member is ejected from the race track for the duration of the weekend.

3 NASCAR inspection failures: If a team failed three times then they would not be allowed to qualify.

4 NASCAR inspection failures: If a team failed four times then they lose a car chief, miss qualifying and they have to make a pass through on lap 1 of the race.

No team failed 3 times or more so far this weekend at Dover International Speedway
