There’s not a seat in the house. They line up in a four wide salute for the Mississippi dirt track racing fans.
Tim McCreadie and Josh Richards trail the pace truck ahead of the feature event. 100 laps of dirt late model racing is up next…
Green flag, McCreadie leads on the bottom into turn one. Richards falls to 4th off turn two on the outside lane.
Lap 2, McCreadie moves to the top. Marlar is coming on the bottom. A lap later, Marlar completes the pass on the bottom heading into turn three.
Lap 12, Marlar has caught the tail of the field. He slows behind lap traffic and McCreadie is on his bumper.
Lap 16, Marlar moves to the top to work the lap cars. McCreadie looks to the inside but he’s pinned behind the lap cars.
Lap 23, three lap cars separate Marlar and McCreadie.
Lap 25, Bobby Pierce started 11th. He’s up to 4th and on the bumper of Richards on the bottom lane.
Lap 35, Pearson Jr runs 5th. He’s the first car to find speed around the top. Pierce hears him coming and he moves to the top just in front of Pearson. Pierce gets a bump from Pearson down the back stretch.
Lap 46, Pierce was up to 3rd. He and Pearson were rolling the top and moving forward. They are now moving backwards. Davenport moves to 4th on the bottom.
Lap 70, Marlar leads McCreadie by 3 car lengths.
The pace has slowed way down. The leader remains the same. As Marlar catches lap traffic, McCreadie closes. As he moves around the laps, he checks out again.
Mike Marlar is working through a lap bump in the middle of turns three and four. Most of the field is rolling through it. Marlar’s car gets out of shape every few laps but he’s still pulling away.
Mike Marlar wins the Clash at The Mag!
