Tonight, Eldora Speedway hosts the 25th annual Dirt Late Model Dream. The half-mile dirt track in Rossburg, Ohio features a payout boost in the anniversary edition at $125,000.

Jimmy Owens blew a motor during his run in hot laps. That will force him to a backup car and to the tail of the field for his heat race.

The heat races have been inverted based on points. The cars that earned the most points thus far this weekend will actually start 5th. The top 3 transfer into tonight’s main event.

Heat 1 – Report

Don O’Neal and Michael Page trail the pace truck ahead of the first heat race of the night. Jonathan Davenport will start 5th as the weekend point leader was inverted deep in the heat field.

Green flag, Don O’Neal leads into turn one. McDowell makes it four wide for 3rd into turn one. Several cars tangle but continue.

Lap 3, Michael Page has a flat and the caution is out.

Green, Davenport leads into turn one. Tyler Erb doors Don O’Neal into turn one. O’Neal has to lift and collect his machine.

Lap 5, Trent Ivey is in the wall and the caution is back out.

Green Davenport leads. Pierce makes it 3 wide for 2nd but he lifts and jumps the cushion.

Lap 7, debris on the track from Rob Anderzack and the caution is out.

Green, Davenport leads. Mason Zeigler makes in 3 wide for 2nd. Everyone bangs doors from 2nd on back and Zeigler takes 3rd. The caution is out as Page is around.

Green, Davenport leads but Tyler Erb hangs with him on the entry to the corner. Erb bobbles on the cuchion and Davenport leads.

Lap 10, McDowell and Zeigler bangs doors off turn four in a battle for the final transfer spot.

Jonathan Davenport takes the win in the first heat race of the night!

Heat 2 – Report

John Blankenship and Mike Marlar lead them to the starting line in heat two. Ricky Weiss will line up 5th following the invert.

Green flag, Blankenship and Marlar run side by side into turn one. Marlar runs wide in the center and crosses under Blankenship on the exit. Jameson gets into the back of Vic Hill and turns him around in turn one to bring out the caution.

Green, Blankenshio leads as Marlar pushes over the cushion. Jimmy Owens started at the tail of this race after blowing a motor, he’s now inside the top 5. The caution is back out for Jameson.

Green, Blankenship leads as Richards jumps the cushion in turn one on the outside lane! Weiss moves to 2nd as Owens moves to 3rd.

Heat 3 – Report

Scott James and Chad Simpson lead them off turn four. Darrell Lanigan starts 5th.

Green flag, James can’t get the power down on the bottom off turn two, Simpson powers to the lead around the top off turn two. McCreadie moves to 2nd.

Lap 11, the top four run nose to tail on the cushion. Sheppard is working the bottom to try and grab the final transfer spot. Ryan King is slow down the back and the caution is out.

Green, McCreadie gets a great jump on the bottom, he slides to the lead in turn one. Simpson crosses him. Big crash behind them as Lanigan and McIntosh tangle.

Green, McCreadie leads into turn one! Simpson and Sheppard trade slider after slider behind him for 2nd.

Heat 4 – Report

Earl Pearson Jr and Kyle Bronson set row one in heat four. Chris Ferguson sets the 5th place starting position.

Green flag, Bronson and Pearson run even into turn one. Bronson takes the spot on the top off turn two.

Babb throws a slider for 4th in turn four. Brian Shirley runs right into the back of him, nose damage but they all continue.

Heat 5 – Report

Scott Bloomquist and Hudson O’Neal line up first in heat five. Shane Clanton will line up 5th.

Green flag, Bloomquist leads into turn one.

Lap 7, Hudson O’Neal is running down Bloomquist. They run right along the cushion with two car lengths between them. Timm has a flat and the caution is out.

Green, Bloomquist leads as Hudson O’neal spins the tires and loses several spots. Moran is around and the caution is out, O’Neal will get those spots back.

Green, the caution is out for a false start as Mars tangles in turn one after the yellow is out. Bloomquist will go to row two for jumping the restart!

Green, Bloomquist runs them three wide into turn one. Hudson O’Neal jumps the cushion in turn one but he’s back on the throttle quick. O’Neal and Bloomquist run even off turn four. Bloomquist completes the pass.

Lap 11, Clanton slits Hudson O’Neal and Dennis Erb Jr down the back stretch. He cuts to the bottom and moves from 4th to 2nd off turn two. Hudson O’Neal is slow and the caution is out.

Rain shower

Green, Bloomquist leads into turn one. Rain falls on the speedway! Bloomquist hits the bottom lane and slides right to the outside wall! Dennis Erb slides into him. They all crash! The whole field has crashed in turn one and the red flag is out!

Eldora officials will restart the race in the positions the drivers were in before the rain shower. Heat six will run ahead of this.

After heat six…

The cars a repaired and ready to resume heat five. Green, Bloomquist leads into turn one as they run three wide for 2nd.

Scott Bloomquist cruises to the win in heat five! But, he’s 2 lbs light at the scales! Dennis Erb Jr will take the win!

Heat 6 – Report

Dirt late model rookie driver Kyle Strickler will line up with Gregg Satterlee as they head to the start. Chris Madden lines up in the 5th position.

Green flag, Strickler leads into turn one. Buckingham and Sattlerlee make contact but they both continue.

Final lap, Chris Madden is around down the back stretch! Bailes slid across the nose of Moriarty, he checked up and Madden ran right into the back of Moriarty before clipping the inside wall. Heavy damage and the caution is out.

Green, Strickler leads. They trade sliders for the final transfer spot.

Report

Laps: 100

Kyle Srickler and Dennis Erb Jr set the front row for the main event. The 28 car field lines up in a four wide salute for the Ohio dirt racing crowd, fireworks blast and we’re ready for the start…

Green flag, Strickler leads on the bottom into turn one. Bronson moves to 2nd and drives right to the top.

Lap 3, Strickler runs the bottom into turn one. Bronson runs the cushion. Bronson comes off turn two with the momentum, he crosses under him and throws the slider in turn three. Kyle Bronson takes the lead.

Lap 10, Bronson leads by over 2 seconds. Now, the leader has caught the tail of the field. Bronson makes light contact with the wall as he works lap traffic.

Lap 16, Strickler has closed to within two car lengths of the leader. Bobby Pierce is slow on the track and the caution is out.

Green, Strickler takes the lead on the bottom in turn one. He leads by two car lengths off turn two. Davenport moves to 2nd.

Lap 18, Chad Simpson is around and the caution is out.

Green, Strickler leads and Davenport holds 2nd. Brandon Sheppard started 16th and Overton started 24th. After 23 laps, both have cracked the top 10.

Lap 25, Davenport has caught the bumper of the leader. He heads to the bottom as Strickler is glued to the cushion. Lap 29, Strickler and Davenport make contact off turn four! Davenport is dropping through the field.

Lap 32, the caution is out as Davenport is slow on the track.

Green, Strickler leads as Bronson and Sheppard battle for 2nd.

Lap 48, Pearson moves to 2nd. Strickler has caught the tail of lap traffic. Pearson heads to the bottom in turn three, Strickler runs the middle and Pearson takes the lead off turn four!

Lap 63, Earl Pearson Jr leads Brandon Sheppard by 2.3 seconds.

Lap 72, Brandon Sheppard has closed to the bumper of Pearson. The race leader has a flat tire. Sheppard takes the lead as the caution is out for Pearson.

Green, three wide for the lead in turn one. Brandon Sheppard holds the lead on the top.

Lap 83, McIntosh is hard in the wall in turn four. The race leader avoids him and the caution is out.

Green, Sheppard leads as several cars tangle from 2nd on back. Tyler Erb narrowly avoided the wall but everyone’s still rolling.

Lap 88, Strickler and Pearson Jr tangle in turn three and the caution is out. Strickler came across the nose of Zeigler and was turned backwards up the banking before clipping Pearson.

Green, Sheppard runs low across the front stretch chasing the wet area of the track. Sheppard is clear by three car lengths off turn two.

They run three wide for 2nd behind them, Tyler Erb takes that position.

3 to go, Sheppard runs the cushion. McDowell is coming as he runs along the inside wall. He’s found speed late in this race. McDowell is coming.

Final lap, McDowell closes within a car length into turn one. McDowell pulls to his door in turn three. They run even off turn four!
