Tonight, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series unloads in South Carolina. The 3/8-mile oval of Cherokee Speedway hosts the Grassy Smith Memorial, paying $12,000 to the race winner.

Heat 1 – Report

Mike Marlar and Josh Richards trial the pace truck ahead of the first heat race of the night. Green, Marlar is clear off turn two.

Dennis Franklin fights with Richards for 2nd. Franklin takes that position.

Don O’Neal has climbed to 5th. He started on the last row and he’s one position out of a transfer spot.

Marlar is driving away.

Final lap, Richards is slow off turn four. He crosses the line in 5th with a flat tire.

Mike Marlar takes the win in the first heat race of the night!

Heat 2 – Report

Johnathan Davenport and Tim McCreadie set the front row in heat two. Green, McCreadie runs wide in the marbles in turn one, he falls to 5th. Spin in turn four, Moran is involved and the caution is out, complete restart.

Green, Davenport leads. McCreadie gets a much better run around the top, he holds 2nd off turn two.

Jonathan Davenport cruises to the win in heat two!

Heat 3 – Report

Ross Bailes and Scott Bloomquist lead them to the line in heat three. Green, Bailes leads into turn one. Pearson works to the inside of Bloomquist and completes the pass off turn two.

Bailes opens the gap in a hurry. Bloomquist retakes 2nd.

Ross Bailes takes the win in hear race number three!

Heat 4 – Report

Chris Ferguson and Trent Ivey line up first for the final heat race of the night. Green, Ferguson is clear at the flag stand. False start, complete restart.

Green, Trent Ivey wins the race off turn two. Ferguson holds 2nd.

Ivey us opening the gap. Flat left rear on the race leader! The caution is out. Ferguson will lead them to the restart.

Green, Ferguson leads Owens out of turn two. Owens is hanging with him.

Two to go, Owens has a look on the inside in turn three. Fergy holds him off and picks up the pace.

Main Event – Report

Mike Marlar and Ross Bailes set the front row in the 50 lap main event. Scott Bloomquist and Stormy Scott will take provisionals and start at the tail.

They line up in a four wide salute for the South Carolina dirt track racing crowd. Tonight’s winner will hit the road with a check for $12,000.

Green flag, Marlar noses ahead on the bottom lane. Bailes is hanging with him on the top.

Marlar clears him on the bottom.

The field moves to the bottom lane. Marlar has caught the tail of the field. Bailes is closing back in.

Lap 10, Bloomquist is slow and the caution is out.

Green, Marlar leads. Davenport takes over 2nd on the outside of turn two.

Marlar has moved to the top. He’s driving away as everyone else is glued to the bottom. Davenport moves to the top lane to give it a try.

Lap 16, slow car down the back and the caution is back out.

Green, Bailes retake’s 2nd on the bottom lane. Marlar opens a gap off turn two.

Devin Moran and Adam Yarbrough tangle and the caution is back out.

Green, Davenport moves to 2nd on the bottom. Marlar holds the lead. Davenport is exploring lanes.

Lap 27, Yellow for debris.

Green, Bailes to 2nd. Marlar opens the gap quick.

Bailes has a train of cars behind him. Davenport, Owens and McCreadie all line up single file on his bumper.

Marlar has caught the tail of lap cars. They run side by side ahead of him. Marlar makes light contact with Moran as he takes them three wide.

2nd through 5th are side by side and banging doors. Owens and Davenport fight for space into turn three.

They were closing on the leader. Now, Marlar has checked out once again.

Marlar drives to the win at Cherokee Speedway!
