Robert Ballou crashes across the finish line: Race winner undergoes surgery (Video)

Ballou is set for third surgery after crashing and winning at Kokomo Speedway

On June 23rd, Robert Ballou Motorsports unloaded at Kokomo Speedway. The 1/4-mile dirt oval hosted non-wing 410 sprint cars in the Bob Darland Memorial event.

Race leader, Ballou was heading to the finish line off turn four in the main event. Just ahead, Koby Barksdale caught the outside wall.

Barksdale climbed the wall and rode it like a skateboard. As he landed, he all but came to a stop at the start finish line, just ahead of the leader.

Ballou turned the car completely sideways to try and slow his car down ahead of impact. He slid right into the rear bumper bars of Barksdale.

Ballou crossed the finish line and took the win at this very moment. However, he was upside down.

Track officials assisted Ballou in getting to the ambulance. He threw a peace sign to the crowd as they put him in the medical transport and moved him to a nearby hospital.
