Today, the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series unloads in Joliet, Illinois. The 1.5-mile of Chicagoland Speedway is set for a Sunday of stock car racing.

Austin Dillon and Kevin Harvick lead them to the starting line. A large storm sits in the distance but we’re going green for 267 laps.

Stage 1 – Report

Laps: 80

NASCAR Cup Series takes the green at Chicagoland Speedway

Green flag, Dillon is clear at the jump he cuts to the bottom, in front of the nose of Harvick. Hemric looks inside of Harvick to make it three wide for 2nd, he takes 2nd.

Lap 5, Johnson to 2nd. He’s on the bumper of Dillon.

Lap 7, Johnson looks to the outside off turn four. Dillon blocks and Johnson swings to the inside! Johnson leads into turn one. Dillon fights back but Johnson holds him off.

Lap 11, the red flag is out for rain.

Two hour delay

With the rain delay out of the way, the caution is back out. Most of the field heads for the pit lane. Jimmie Johnson and Austin Dillon stay out.

Green, Johnson and Dillon trade side drafts into turn one and down the back stretch. Dillon noses ahead, Johnson pulls him back, they see-saw. Kyle Busch and Joey Logano tag the wall lightly behind them. Austin Dillon wins the battle at the front.

Lap 20, Harvick has pulled to the bumper of Dillon. He gets to the left rear, pulls him back and cuts to the bottom. Harvick takes the lead.

Lap 50, Alex Bowman is on the pit lane to begin the green flag put cycle. It’s lap 51 and Austin Dillon is in. Lap 65, Johnson is in with a two tire stop.

8 to go, Kevin Harvick pits from the lead. He has a flat tire. Several cars are coming in for fuel only. Ryan Blaney also pits with a flat tire.

2 to go, Bowyer has spun with a flat right rear tire! The caution is out. Kyle Busch has a flat as well and that’s four flat tires in the last four laps.

Denny Hamlin wins stage 1 with a fuel only pit stop!

Stage 2 – Report

Laps: 80

Several cars head for the pit lane but most stay out. Hamlin wins the race off the pit lane with four tires. Harvick leads them to the restart.

Green flag on stage two, Hamlin gives a shove to Harvick. Hamlin looks to the middle between Harvick and Larson. Harvick holds the lead.

Lap 89, Johnson and Hamlin trade side drafts for 2nd. Harvick opens the gap. Byron pushes Johnson clear to 2nd.

Lap 99, William Byron has climbed to the bumper of Harvick. He looks to the inside, side draft and clear.

The caution is out. Houff has dropped oil on the track.

Pit cycle

The field heads to the pit lane. Harvick is first in and Byron is first off.

Green, Johnson gives Harvick a push on the bottom. Byron drops through the field with no help on the outside lane, he falls to 10th.

Lap 122, Ryan Blaney and Kyle Busch are in disagreement. The drivers bang doors several times down the front stretch. Blaney nearly spins as he cuts across the nose of Kyle Busch but they both continue.

Lap 135, Chase Elliott runs the outside, right against the wall. It drives around Johnson to take over 2nd. Harvick leads by a half second.

Hamlin has a run on Suarez off turn four. Suarez pulls up to block and Hamlin tries to cut under him. Hamlin tags him in the rear bumper, enough to push the left rear fender onto the tire. No caution.

Jimmie Johnson reclaims 2nd. But, Chase Elliott is all over him. Bowman and Larson battle hard behind them for 4th. Harvick thinks he has a tire issues but he continues to lead.

5 to go, Chase Elliott finally drives it deep to the bottom and clears Johnson off the corner. Lap traffic sits ahead of the leader and Elliott closes the gap.

3 to go, Elliott is on the bumper of the leader. Harvick runs the outside wall, Elliott runs a car length off the wall. Harvick picks up the pace and drives away.

Kevin Harvick wins stage 2 at Chicagoland!

Stage 3 – Report

Laps: 107

The field heads to the pit lane. Harvick is first in and first off. Chase Eliliott has trouble with an air hose on his stop.

Green flag on stage three, Larson and Harvick run even into turn one. Larson takes the lead. Johnson, Byron, Busch and Stenhouse run four wide and bang fenders off turn four.

Kyle Busch aggressively blocks Logano into turn three. They bang wheels and Busch has a flat tire, still green.

At the front, Bowman slices between Harvick and Larson to take over the lead. Harvick tags the wall slightly and the caution is out.

Green, Johnson gives Bowman a push on the bottom and that pushes Bowman to the lead.

Pit cycle

51 to go, Ryan Newman hits the pit lane to begin the final pit cycle. 49 to go, Larson and Truex are in. 48 to go, Alex Bowman pits from the lead. 42, Kevin Harvick is the last car to pit and Alex Bowman cycles back to the lead.

30 to go, Kyle Busch has smoke inside the cockpit. He pits for four tires. Alex Bowman leads Larson by 3 seconds.

15 to go, Alex Bowman is struggling with lap traffic. Larson is coming in a hurry as the gap is cut to .6 seconds.

10 to go, Larson is on the bumper of Bowman.

9 to go, Bowman heads to the bottom in turn three. Larson runs the top. Larson has a run off turn four. He looks to the inside, Larson is clear on the bottom.

6 to go, Bowman has a run. He side drafts him and pulls him back off turn two. They lightly touch and Bowman retakes the lead into turn three!

Bowman is driving away. Alex Bowman wins at Chicagoland Speedway! That’s his first career NASCAR Cup Series win.
