Portsmouth Raceway Park Results: July 4, 2019 (Lucas Oil Late Models)

Green, Moran leads. Jameson puts pressure on him for 2nd. Tyler Erb makes up a bunch of positions, he climbs to 2nd in a hurry.

Final lap, Tyler Erb has climbed to within a car length of the leader but he’s going to come up short.

Devin Moran wins heat race number one!

Heat 2 – Report

Josh Richards and Chris Ferguson trial the pace truck in heat number two. Green, false start on Richards.

Green, Richards leads on the bottom. Ferguson brakes early to leave the top, head to the bottom and trail Richards into turn one. Davenport is on the gas around the cushion, Davenport to 2nd.

Lap 3, Richards and Davenport run nose to tail around the bottom. Davenport bobbles through a rut in turn four and loses a bunch of spots.

2 to go, Richards, Davenport and Ferguson run nose to tail around the bottom. 1 to go, Ferguson has a run off turn four, he drives it hard to the bottom in turn one. Ferguson and Davenport bang doors.

Ferguson takes 2nd but he’s sideways off turn two. Davenport moves back to 2nd on the bottom into turn three. Josh Richards takes the win in heat two!

Heat 3 – Report

Jimmy Owens and Mike Marlar lead them to the starting line in heat three. Green, Owens leads on the bottom into turn one.

Marlar is on the gas around the top and hangs onto his right rear off turn two. Owens leaves him room as they run even into turn three. Marlar leads on the outside off turn four.

Lap 5, Owens and Marlar remain side by side. They’re still equal in pace will running opposite lanes.

Final lap, they’re near even at the flag stand as they take the white flag. Owens slips off turn two. Marlar leads by a car length into turn three.

Marlar takes the win in a thrilling heat three finish!

Heat 4 – Report

Kyle Bronson and Tim McCreadie head to the flag stand in the final heat race of the night. Green, Bronson leads on the bottom into turn one.

McCreadie is on the gas around the cushion. He pulls to the outside of Bronson off turn two. They nearly touched as Bronson kicks it sideways to leave room on the outside.

Buckingham has a run on both of them off turn two! Buckingham makes it three wide for the lead down the back. Light contact and Buckingham to the lead in turn three!

Bronson jumps the cushion in turn two, that might have been a result of contact. Bronson falls to last but he’s three wide in a hurry to work back through the field.

McCreadie is closing the gap to Buckingham. He’s with a car length with one to go. He’s going to run out of time.

Shanon Buckingham wins the final heat race of the night!

Main Event – Report

Devin Moran and Mike Marlar trial the pace truck ahead of the main event. Earl Pearson Jr, Kyle Bronson and Stormy Scott take the providionals.

The field lines up in a four wide salute for the Ohio dirt racing fans. The 50 lap main event is up next…

Green flag, they run even into turn one. Marlar hits the cushion and leads by a car length at the center of the corner.

Moran and Richsrds fight for space on the bottom. Richards clips him in the left rear. Moran is sideways but he collects it.

Lap 2, Richards slides Moran for 2nd on the bottom in turn one.

Lap 5, Richards has moved to the cushion. He’s quickly running down the race leader. Lap 6, he’s there and looking for a hole. Marlar moves back to the top and holds the lead.

Lap 13, Jason Jameson is slow on the front and the yellow is out. Pearson and Satterlee to the pit area.

Green, Marlar leads. Erb wins the race for 2nd into turn one. Richards cuts off the cushion and crosses under him off turn two. Next lap, Erb slides Richards into turn one. Richards crosses under him once more to retake 2nd.

Lap 17, Ferguson is slow with a flat tire and the caution is back out.

Green, Marlar leads. Erb slides Richards for 2nd. Erb runs out of race track and lofts off turn two, Richards and Hudson O’Neal drive by.

Lap 25, Marlar leads Richards by 15 car lengths.

Lap 35, Marlar slices through lap traffic. Owens closes on Richards.

Lap 46, Kyle Bronson is slow with a flat left rear and the caution is out!

Green, Marlar leads Richards and Owens. Two car lengths between each of them. Ferguson has lost an entire wheel, he’s around and the caution is out.

Green, Marlar leads. Most cars head for the bottom as Davenport bounces of the cushion to make something happen.

Mike Marlar cruises to the win at Portsmouth Raceway Park!
