NASCAR inspection failures at Pocono Raceway

Six cars fail inspection ahead of the race at Pocono Raceway

Yesterday, qualifying took place at the 2.-5-mile triangle of Pocono Raceway. However, the starting lineup was unofficial after qualifying.

Following the session, cars were impounded. This morning, the inspection line opened. Post-qualifying and pre-race inspection were rolled into one.

Austin Dillon, Ryan Blaney, William Byron, Michael McDowell, Chris Buescher and Jimmie Johnson have all failed pre-race inspection.

Austin Dillon failed inspection because his right rear was too low. Dillon was set to start 5th on the field but will now start at the rear.

Jimmie Johnson failed the body scan portion of NASCAR inspection. He would have started 6th today and will now move to the tail of the field.

William Byron would have started in the 8th position before the failed inspection. He pulled out a backup car after a crash in the opening round of practice. He also missed the majority of the final practice round as the team prepared the machine.

Kevin Harvick had a pole position at this track but he lost that record due to a failed inspection. This time, he was all clear at the inspection line and has officially claimed his first career pole position at Pocono Raceway.
