Michigan International Speedway inspection issues

NASCAR crew member ejected from Michigan International Speedway

Pre-race inspection is underway at Michigan International Speedway. We’ve seen an issue from the trip through the Room of Doom.

Martin Truex Jr, the Joe Gibbs Racing #19 has failed pre-race inspection. They failed twice which means Truex will be forced to drop to the rear at the start of today’s race.

Additionally, the team has seen an engineer ejected from the speedway.

Truex would have been the second highest starting Toyota in the field. His starting position will remain as the official starting spot. However, he’ll drop to the rear during the pace laps.

Both Austin Dillon and Daniel Hemric had their qualifying times disallowed by NASCAR. That was announced on Friday.

That’s not a drop to the rear situation for the Richard Childress Racing machines. They will start at the rear with qualifying times thrown out.

Other cars to the rear: No. 32 of Corey LaJoie and No. 36 of Matt Tifft made a transmission change and will go to the rear for the start. The No. 77 of Garrett Smithley made a driver change and will join them at the tail ahead of the green.

The official NASCAR inspection report has been released to confirm the starting grid.

NASCAR Inspection Failure Rules: Pre-Race Inspection
