Today, the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series sits on the grid at Michigan International Speedway. The 2-mile oval in Brooklyn, MI hosts the Consumers Energy 400.

Traction compound has been installed on the high side of the race track all weekend. Overnight, they’ve stalled more and made it two feer lower as well.

Austin Dillon and Danial Hemric saw their qualifying times disallowed and will be coming from the rear. Additionally, Martin Truex Jr failed pre-race inspection twice, he’ll also start at the rear.

Brad Keselowski and Kevin Harvick will lead them to the starting line. It’s a home race for Keselowski and a race he’s never won. Will he complete that desire today? The start is up next…

Stage 1 – Report

Laps: 60 (1-60)

Green flag, Brad Keselowdki gets the jump on the outside line. Harvick slots in behind the leader before turn one.

The field runs single file in the middle lane, just at the edge of the traction compound. All except Logano, he works the bottom lane and the side draft for 5th.

Lap 5, Truex is passing them high and low. He’s up to 16th. That didn’t take long after he started at the rear.

Lap 15, Jimmie Johnson runs wide and brushes the wall off turn two. He slows and heads for the pits under green.

Lap 32, Kevin Harvick has a flat right front! He heads to the pits under green!

Lap 35, Chase Elliott heads for the pit lane.

Lap 39, Denny Hamlin is on the bumper of the leader. He has a run off turn four and looks to the inside. Hamlin leads on the bottom into turn one.

Pit cycle

Lap 43, Brad Keselowski and others head for the pit lane.

Lap 48, Martin Truex Jr has cycled to the lead. He took fuel only to make that happen.

Penalty: Kyle Larson is caught speeding on the pit lane.

5 to go in stage 1, Truex washed up the race track in dirty air of the lap cars. Hamlin drives under him to take the lead.

4 to go, Truex drives it deep to the bottom and retakes the lead. Hamlin crosses under him into turn one by Truex defends on the top.

1 to go, Hamlin is on the bumper of the leader. He tries to side draft but he’s not close enough.

Martin Truex Jr wins stage 1 at Michigan International Speedway!

Stage 2 – Report

Laps: 60 (61-120)

Most of the field heads for the pit lane. Hamlin wins the race off the pit lane. Everyone takes two tires except Truex who’ll restart in 9th.

Green flag on stage two, Bowman locks bumps with Hamlin on the bottom into turn one. Keselwoski holds the lead on the outside.

Lap 72, Truex has driven through the field since the restart with four fresh tires. He just sweeps around Bowman for 3rd. At the front, Keselowski leads Hamlin.

Lap 73, Truex and Hamlin runs side by side for 2nd. Truex throws a side draft off turn two and completes the pass into turn three.

Truex looks under Keselowski. They side draft each other and Hamlin closes on both. Truex gets pinned behind a lap car and falls to 3rd. Truex quickly reclaims 2nd.

Lap 91, Truex heads for the bottom in turn one. He side drafts Keselowski off turn two. Keselowski runs him below the apron down the back. Truex still completes the pass for the lead into turn three.

Pit cycle

Lap 107, Alex Bowman heads to the pit lane. Logano comes a lap later. Lap 109, Denny Hamlin to the pits for four tires. Truex pits from the lead on the next lap.

Lap 113, Kyle Busch pits from the lead. It’s a fuel only call for him!

5 to go in stage two, Brad Keselowski has a flat right rear! He slides all the way through the corner but avoids the wall. The caution is out.

Hamlin returns to the pit lane for fuel only. Harvick takes two.

It’s going to be a one lap shootout for the stage win! Truex and Kyle Busch lead them to the restart.

Green, Erik Jones is on the bumper of Busch in the inside. Kyle Busch leads off turn two! Truex is on his bumper into turn three.

Busch blocks the run. Almirola and Dillon crash off turn four. Almirola ran Hemric into the wall off the corner and clipped Dillon.

Stage 3 – Report

Laps: 80 (121-200)

Kyle Busch and Truex head for the pit lane. Busch is first off with two tires. Many stayed out and Kurt Busch will lead them to the restart.

Green flag on stage three, Kurt Busch and Logano run even into turn one. Logano clears him on the bottom lane.

Lap 133, Spencer Boyd is in the wall and the caution is out. Heavy damage for the driver making his first career start.

Green flag, Logano gets the jump on the outside. He’s clear of Kurt Busch before turn one.

Paul Menard tags the left rear of Clint Bowyer as they were four wide and Bowyer inched down the banking. He loses control and makes heavy impact with the outside wall to bring the caution back out.

Green, Blaney gives a huge push to Kurt Busch on the inside. Logano and Kurt Busch run even off turn two and remain even into turn three. Blaney gives a shove to Logano at the flag stand and pushes him to the lead.

Lap 149, Ricky Stenhouse Jr has a flat. He spins and the caution is out.

Pit cycle

The field heads to the pit lane. Blaney is off first with no tires. Logano is the first to take two, he’ll restart 4th.

Green, Logano pushes Blaney to the lead on the outside. Logano gets a shove from Menard.

Logano looks to the inside into turn three. Blaney pulls down to block and Logano shoots to the outside instead! Logano works clear and back to the race lead!

24 to go, Ryan Blaney is in fuel saving mode. The crew didn’t get it full on the last stop.

18 to go, Harvick is on the bumper of the leader. He looks to the inside in turn three. They trade side drafts on the front stretch. Harvick drives it deep to the bottom and clear into turn one.

5 to go, Harvick leads Logano by just under 2 seconds.

4 to go, Logano heads for the pit lane from 2nd! Hamlin moves to 2nd.
