Chris Madden injured at Mansfield Motor Speedway; Will miss Dirt Million

The Scott Bloomquist Racing driver is expected to undergo eye socket surgery and will miss this weekend’s event

This weekend, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series is rolling into Mansfield, Ohio. The 0.44-mile oval is set to host the biggest dirt late model race of the year.

The purse for the Dirt Million grows daily. Currently, the purse for the main event sits at $309,545.00.

Back in June, Chris Madden left his Skyline Motorsports entry. On July 5th, is was announced that he signed on to drive the second Scott Bloomquist Racing entry.

And he drove it straight to victory lane. Now, in the last seven races alone, he’s collected 5 wins. The wins alone from those five races total $155,000 in earnings.

Last weekend, Madden took home the win in the Topless 100 at Batesville Motor Speedway. That was a $40,000 victory and Madden was heading into this weekend’s event as one of the favorites.

Chris Madden underwent thorough evaluation at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Observations included a CAT scan to his left eye socket.

Originally, it was expected the evaluation would be to determine the surgery necessary. However, Madden has since been released from the hospital.

At this time, specialists determined that surgery is not immediately required.

Madden is still unable to compete in this weekend’s Dirt Million at Mansfield Motor Speedway. He has returned home to South Carolina to spend time with his family.

Doctors have stated that Madden will likely be able to return to the cockpit once swelling dissipates and he feels comfortable.
