Joey Logano pokes fun at his own comments toward Kevin Harvick; Set to run Harvick throwback in NASCAR race at Darlington
On February 18, 2017, Kevin Harvick won the Daytona 500 under the lights. He took the win by just a nose over Mark Martin as they drag raced to the start finish line.
In 2010, Joey Logano and Kevin Harvick tangled at Pocono. Again, Kevin Harvick was running a Pennzoil paint scheme.
The two drivers fought for space into the corner. Harvick clipped Logano in the left rear and Logano was sent sideways into the corner. He was able to save it and keep it out of the wall but his chance at a win was shot.
“I’m gonna punch that mother fucker right in the nose,” Joey Logano said over the team radio on his way back to the pit lane.
Logano’s crew yelled back, “Stop it, right now!”
But, he didn’t stop it. Logano pulled next to Harvick on the pit lane and aimed like he was going to hit him. A NASCAR official stood in front of Harvick’s car with his hands out to say, “stop.”
“He let me go down the straight away. Then, decided to dump me going into the next turn,” Logano said of Harvick after the race in 2010.
“I don’t know what his deal is with me. But, it’s probably not his fault. His wife wears the firesuit in the family and tells him what to do. So, it’s probably not his fault,” Logano later told reporters the famous quote.
Delana Harvick, the wife of Kevin Harvick always wears a firesuit when sitting on the pit box. An incident with a fire on the pit lane caused her to start taking that precaution.

Fast forward nine years, Joey Logano is now set to run the very paint scheme of his then rival. Today, Logano is a family man with a son that was born in February 2018.
The team has released a promo video for the throwback paint scheme. It featured Logano sitting next to the car as his posed with a straight face.
“Hey Champ,” wife Brittany Logano approached and tossed a diaper at Logano.
“Let’s wrap it up. It’s your turn to change the diaper now. I wear the firesuit in this family.”
The paint scheme celebrates the 50th anniversary of Richard Childress Racing.
The 2019 Southern 500 is set to be run this weekend. The NASCAR race at Darlington Raceway features a variety of throwback paint schemes throughout the pit area. The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series event will run on September 1st.
Logano has five top-10s and has led 103 laps during his 10 NASCAR Cup Series starts at the Darlington, South Carolina track.
