Matt DiBenedetto failed pre-qualifying inspection twice. Leavine Family Racing will see a crew chief ejected for the duration of the weekend but his time will stand.

That’s all they’ll get. One lap will set the NASCAR starting lineup.

The new rules package is being used for the first time at Darlington Raceway. The horsepower has been reduced from 750 to 550. Additionally the downforce has been increased and aero ducts are installed on the front nose.

The result of the new rules package is drivers running full throttle in and through turns one and two.

Trouble for Kyle Busch. Upon exiting his car he told reporters that something was wrong with his car. He feels it’s a second slower than what it should have been.

Busch said the motor fell flat down the back stretch. The car sounds fine after the run on the pit lane. They could plug a computer into the car to figure out what it is. If they choose to do that, they’ll start at the tail.

Ryan Blaney is sideways in the middle of turns three and four. Despite that, he’s still 3rd on the board. Blaney took the pole in the NXS event. Without the back end stepping out he might have had another.

Hendrick Motorsports is bad fast here this weekend. Byron has the fast time with just a handful of cars remaining. His teammate is up next with a threat at the quick time.

Chase Elliott was trending in the green on his lap. He bounced over a bump into turn three and he has to chase it up the hill. Elliott lost all his time in turn three.

Aric Almirola has smoke rolling out the back of his machine as he exits turn two. He stays in it and runs 28th of the 37 so far.

William Byron will start from the pole position at Darlington Raceway!
