Tomorrow night, they’ll race for $40,000. Tonight, they’ll run a brief main event to help set the field for tomorrow night’s main event.

54 cars are signed in for tonight’s portion of the crown jewel dirt racing event. Jared Landers broke a motor after the first night and is a scratch for tonight’s program.

Jonathan Davenport made his debut in the Brewster Baker wrap last weekend at Eldora Speedway. Last night, he torn up the nose on the inside berm at Knoxville Raceway. Davenport has unloaded the backup car for tonight’s show.

Main Event – Report

25 laps of dirt late model action is up next. A solid preliminary night crowd sits in the grandstands of the Iowa dirt track.

Ricky Weiss and Chris Madden set the front row for the main event. The field hits the half-mile track and we’re ready to go racing…

Green flag, Madden gets the jump. He leads on the outside into turn one.

Weiss and Bruening run nose to tail around the bottom. Madden works clear and drops to the bottom.

Lap 5, Bruening is on the bumper if Weiss for 2nd. Weiss explores lanes. Weiss drops back to the bottom and opens the gap to 3rd.

Lap 10, Madden has caught the tail of the field. Weiss closes to his bumper in a hurry.

Lap 14, Madden looks inside the lap car of Mike Mataragas. He shuts the door. Madden slides off the bottom as he gets on the brakes.

Weiss works under him on the bottom. They run side by side off turn two. Weiss has the momentum and leads into turn three.

Weiss is driving away. Josh Richards has found speed on the cushion. He started 11th and he’s up to 3rd. Richards just needs a caution.
