This afternoon, the NASCAR Cup Series takes to the track. The 1.5-mile oval of Las Vegas Motor Speedway will host the South Point Casino 400.

This race marks the first race of the 2019 NASCAR Playoffs. It’s the first of three races in this round. The conclusion of the round will see four of the sixteen playoff drivers eliminated. Race winners automatically advance to round two.
Clint Bowyer will start from pole position in Las Vegas, Nevada. Stewart-Haas Racing has locked out the top four position on the starting grid.
With this new rules package, that means all those cars are trimmed out on drag and thus downforce as well.
Cars were wide open in qualifying with the 550hp package. But, they won’t be 10-30 laps into a run. That’s where drivers will need every bit of downforce.
So, who’s quickest in long runs? The chart below shows 10-lap average times from both practice sessions on Friday.
Any driver that made of run a 10 consecutive laps is featured on this chart. The lap times from the single run are then averaged.
