Late Model Shootout results from the first trip for the Lucas Oil Dirt Series to Kokomo, Indiana
Tonight, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series unloads in Kokomo, Indiana for the first time ever. The 1/4-mile dirt track of Kokomo Speedway hosts the Late Model Shootout for $12,000 to win.

24 cars are signed into the pit area ahead of the night at the Indiana dirt track. That’s exactly the number of a full field, everyone will make the show.
Heat 1 – Report
Billy Moyer Jr and Chris Madden set row one in the first heat race of the night. Green, Madden leads on the top into turn one.
Lap 5, Moyer has a run on Madden off turn two. He looks to the inside in turn three. Moyer gets the drive off the bottom and leads back into turn one.

Heat 2 – Report
Kyle Bronson and Tyler Erb trail the pace truck ahead of heat two. Green, Erb heads to the top. Bronson drives it hard to the bottom. Bronson slides him into turn one. They make contact as Bronson wasn’t clear.
Bronson leads off turn two. Erb drives it deep to the bottom in turn three. He slides him, not clear and he doors him.
Tyler Erb leads off turn four as Bronson falls to 4th.
Lap 5, Tim McCreadie is all over Erb for the lead. Bronson is slow and the caution is out.
Green, Erb leads McCreadie as the field runs the bottom in turn one.

Heat 3 – Report
Frank Heckanst Jr and Hudson O’Neal head to the line in the final heat race of the night. Green, Hudson O’Neal leads on the top out of turn two.
Lap 5, O’Neal pulls away. Richards is all over Heckenast for 2nd.
Jonathan Davenport is bicycling through the ruts into turn three. The entire field is running the bottom.
Hudson O’Neal drives off to win heat three!
Late Model Shootout
Billy Moyer Jr and Tyler Erb exit the pit gate ahead of the main event. They’re in search of the $12,000 check to the winner.
The field lines up in a four wide salute for the Indiana dirt racing fans. Both grandstands are full tonight for the national dirt late model tour.

Green flag, Moyer Jr leads on the bottom into with one. Tyler Erb holds 2nd as Hudson O’Neal bicycles behind him.
Lap 8, Moyer Jr has moved to the top as he’s caught the tail of the field. He has to lift off turn two. Erb has a run on his inside.
Erb drives it deep to the bottom. He pulls even but Moyer holds the lead on the top.
Bronson is slow and the caution is out.
Green, Hudson O’Neal drives it deep to the bottom in turn one as Moyer heads for the top. O’Neal from 3rd takes the lead into turn one.
Lap 12, Bloomquist has a flat right rear in turn two. Shanon Buckingham has nowhere to go and he gets into the back on him. The caution is out.
Green, Hudson O’Neal opens a gap. Richards is coming to the front, he picks Moyer Jr for 3rd.
Hudson O’Neal and Tyler Erb run nose to tail around the cushion. O’Neal smacks a rut, he lifts and Erb pulls even off turn two.
They run side by side into turn three. O’Neal holds the spot.
O’Neal is struggling with the lap car of Buckingham. Tyler Erb is working the bottom to find a way to pin him behind the lapper.
Tyler Erb runs wide off turn four. Richards has a run off the corner. He slides him into turn one. Richards to 2nd.
Lap 36, Richards is looking for the lead! Richards has a flat on the front stretch and the caution is out!
Green, Owens looks for 2nd on the bottom. Erb holds the spot.
Richards has been three wide since the restart. He’s coming back to the front with a new right rear.
Richards takes Davenport and Pierce three wide on the bottom into turn three. He doors Davenport for the position.
Lap 39, Davenport straight lines the entry into turn one. He runs right into the door of Richards. T-bones him deliberate and both cars are torn up. Johnny Scott is parked on the wall, halfway through the catch fence as he was on the outside of Richards and collected. Pearson slides into the scene as well.
The caution is clearly out. Everyone is alright but safety crews go to work on removing the car from the fence and repairing the catch fence.
Green, Hudson O’Neal, Tyler Erb and Jimmy Owens run nose to tail around the top.
Tyler Erb drives it deep on the bottom into turn one. He launches through the ruts and pulls even with the leader. O’Neal holds the lead into turn three.
3 to go, Hudson O’Neal is smoking. He bobbles off turn four and Tyler Erb takes the lead! O’Neal falls to 3rd.
Final lap, Owens is looking for a way by Erb. He’s going to run out of time.
