Mike Marlar will make NASCAR Xfinity Series debut at Richmond Raceway

Tonight, Mike Marlar is in the NASCAR field; The dirt racing star has won plenty of late model races

Mike Marlar will make his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut tonight in the Go Bowling 250. His first NXS start is set to come at the 0.75-mile oval of Richmond Raceway.

The Winfield, Tennessee driver will drive for the MBM Motorsports team. The #66 is owned by Danielle Long, wife of Carl Long.

George Church will serve as the crew chief on the Motorsports Business Management machine.

Marlar famously finished 4th in his NASCAR Truck Series debut back in August. However, this will be his first NASCAR start on the pavement.

“It’s an awesome race,” Marlar told Fox Sports after the finish at Eldora Speedway.

“Every little kid in the world dreams about NASCAR. As racers start racing, you know, deep down everybody wants to race NASCAR. It’s awesome that we got to do it and had such a great finish tonight.”

Mike Marlar has won plenty of late model races ahead of NASCAR pavement debut

He’s the 2018 World of Outlaws Late Model Series champion. The dirt late model star has won three Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series races in 2019.

“I’m pretty excited about going to Richmond Raceway this weekend! I’m working with a new driver who is making his debut in the NASCAR Xfinity Series named Mike Marlar,” Jennifer Calandrillo, crew member for the team said.

She continued, “But it’s ok race fans and fellow drivers…He HAS won races in late models before…Should be good to go! ???????? (He’s actually the 2018 World of Outlaws Late Model Series champion!!).”

Last week, Kyle Busch criticized slow lap cars for making it to NASCAR before winning late model races. Contact with the rear bumper of Garrett Smithley ruined his day. After the race, Kyle Larson trolled Kyle Busch about spotters while both Smithley and Joey Gase chimed in to defend themselves.

MBM Motorsports will have four cars entered in tonight’s NASCAR Xfinity race. Marlar is entered with teammates Chad Finchum, Joey Gase and Stan Mullis.

MBM Motorsports drivers have entered 101 races in 2019. Collectively, they have two top-10 runs.

Mike Marlar
NASCAR Sponsor

Marathon is a sponsor on Marlar’s dirt late model ride. In August, they also teamed up with the NASCAR Truck Series ride.

However, NASCAR forced them to remove the sponsor as Sunoco is the official fuel of NASCAR. With that level of sponsorship, no competing sponsors are allowed within the same industry. That cost Marlar some money directly as Marathon had agreed to pay for some equipment, which he returned.

Ahead of Eldora, Marlar thought he had a chance to run multiple NASCAR races. After the sponsor was removed, he thought his stock car racing career had come to a close.

This weekend, Marlar has new backing via Tri-Rivers Logging. The company is based out of Cameron, MO.

Since 1983, Tri-Rivers has been providing services to help states and local governments overcome the devastation left behind after a natural disaster.
