Former NASCAR team owner found dead in Ohio River

Police have identified a body that was found in the river on Tuesday

A body was discovered in the Ohio River on October 15th. That body has since been identified as Lonnie Troxell.

The 68-year-old, was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was located at the 5700 block of Captain Quarters Dr. 

Police stated Troxell lived near Captain Quarters.

The cause of death is still pending. Those results are pending an autopsy.

Troxell was a former NASCAR team owner. He operated a NASCAR Truck Series operation between 2000-2004.

The team never ran a full season of competition. However, they did make 75 starts in the series bringing $613,784 in race earnings.

Wayne Edwards tallied the best career finish for the team. That was a 15th place showing in the opening race at Daytona International Speedway in 2004.

Troxell also served as the crew chief for 15 races.
