Tonight, the 2019 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series season comes to a close. The 3/8-mile dirt track of Portsmouth Raceway Park hosts the Dirt Track World Championship.

DTWC – Report

Hudson O’Neal had issues in hot laps. They found a rear end leak as the driver returned to the hauler.

The crew is rapidly attempting to plug the hole on the rear end just minutes before the main event. The driver himself is also under the car thrashing.

Earl Pearson Jr and Billy Moyer Jr will take series provisionals and join the tail of the field.

Chris Ferguson and Shane Clanton set the front row. They lead the field out of the pit area.

The field lines up in a four wide salute for the Ohio dirt racing fans. This feature will pay $100,000 to the race winner. 100 laps of dirt late model racing are up next…

Green flag, both drivers roll through a rut in turn one. Ferguson bobbles as the front end bounces off the ground and he and pushes up the banking. Clanton is on the gas and leads around the top.

Lap 2, Mike Marlar is up to 2nd. He’s running down the leader. Ferguson is put three wide behind them.

Lap 5, Stormy Scott iI upside down in turn three. The red flag is out. The driver climbs from the car and it alright. Ricky Weiss and Earl Pearson Jr are also involved.

Green, Owens moves to 2nd on the bottom. Lap 6, Owens is looking under Clanton for the lead. They run even off turn two and Owens completes the pass in turn three.

Lap 10, Owens leads Clanton by 10 car lengths. Richards is making the high side work. He runs side by side with Marlar for 3rd, just behind Clanton.

Lap 16, Steve Casebolt is slow and the caution is out.

Ferguson, Weiss and Bloomquist head for the pits.

Green, Owens leads. Clanton falls to 4th as Marlar takes 2nd.

Lap 19, Brandon Sheppard is coming to the front. He’s on the top and the bottom. Lap 21, Sheppard drives around the outside of Marlar for 2nd.

Lap 26, Sheppard has caught the leader. He drives it deep on the top and pulls to the right rear of the leader. He can’t hold it, jumps the cushion and Owens leads by three car lengths off turn two.

Lap 29, Bloomquist spins into turn one. Sheppard drives down the banking to avoid him and the caution is out.

Bloomquist returns to the pits.

Green, Owens to the top, Sheppard to the middle and Marlar to the bottom. They run three wide for the lead in turn two.

Owens holds it into turn three. Sheppard remains on his bumper.

Lap 32, Sheppard heads to the top in turn one. He crosses under Owens off turn two and drives it deep to the bottom in turn three. Owens holds it once more.

Josh Richards slides Marlar for 3rd just behind the leaders. Marlar returns with a slider in turn one and Richards has to check up as he jumps the cushion.

Lap 35, Sheppard completes the pass for the lead.

Lap 41, Jonathan Davenport iI slow and the caution is back out.

Green, Sheppard leads. Richards and Owens run side by side for 2nd off turn two. Richards takes the spot.

Lap 47, Chris Ferguson is flying around the top. He’s back inside the top 10 after a pit stop just a few las ago.

Lap 51, Richards has closed to the bumper of the leader as Sheppard has caught the tail of the field.

Lap 52, the caution is out.

Green, Sheppard leads. Richards holds 2nd after a fight with Owens.

Lap 54, Tim McCreadie is around in turn four and the caution is out.

Green, Sheppard leads Richards. Owens falls to 7th after he struggles to get to the bottom.

Lap 60, the entire field has moved to the bottom.

Lap 68, Sheppard has caught the tail of the field. He moves to the top to work a lap car and jumps the cushion. Richards drives by on the bottom to take the lead.

Sheppard fights back as Richards works lap traffic. Sheppard retakes the lead and Marlar moves to 2nd.

Lap 74, Jimmy Owens is slow with a flat tire and the caution is out.

Green, Sheppard leads. Richards and Marlar run side by side for 2nd. Richards is hanging with him on the outside as they make light contact into turn three. Richards takes the widest entry possible and drives it deep on the outside, he’s clear for 2nd.

Lap 80, the yellow is back out as Pearson slows.

Green, Sheppard leads. Marlar gets the jump on Richards and takes 2nd into turn one.

Lap 85, flat tire and a slow car in turn two. The caution waves again.

Green, Bobby Pierce and Don O’Neal tangle in turn one for 6th. O’Neal is in the wall and the caution is out.

Green, Sheppard leads Marlar.

Lap 88, Richards, Pierce and Ferguson run the top. Richards bails and drops to the bottom. Ferguson drives it deep, he bicycles and brushes the wall.

Lap 90, Don O’Neal is in the turn one wall and the caution is out.

Green, Sheppard leads. Everyone heads for the bottom except Moran who’s up to 8th. Moran jumps the cushion and he drops back to the bottom.
