That setup a shootout to the finish of the stage. Two laps to settle the stage and the recipient of a single playoff point.

They dropped the green, Clint Bowyer led on the bottom. Joey Logano had a run on his outside.

Kyle Busch bailed from the rear bumper of Clint Bowyer who had older tires than the field. At the same time, Suarez looked inside of Kyle Busch. Suarez moved below the apron to make room.

They ran five wide for the lead. In total, Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney, Clint Bowyer, Kyle Busch and Daniel Suarez all ran side by side for the race lead as the field rolled into turn one.

Joey Logano would go on to claim the win in stage one.

Joey Logano said after the race, “I mean, when you see a late race restart here at Kansas it’s like, ‘Oh boy, we’re about to crash some stuff’ “

“It’s because everyone is trying to get every point possible. Especially when cars are on the cutline and know they have to pass three or four cars.”
