Two friends tangled on the race track; They approached each other after the race and ended up in a wrestling match with crew members on top of each of them
The NASCAR Xfinity Series rolled into Kansas Speedway over the weekend. The NASCAR Xfinity Playoffs saw a high drama event on the 1.5-mile track.
Tyler Reddick and Cole Custer tangled on the race track. Custer got the worst of it as he lost several positions.
Both of these drivers are in a fight for the championship. There’s an equal amount on the line for both.
After the race, the cars pulled onto the pit lane. Both drivers approached each other, helmets off.
Custer reached out and put his hand on his shoulder. That move was a similar thing that Dale Earnhardt used to do after on-track altercations.
Custer intended to have a talk, that didn’t go to plan. Reddick immediately grabbed Custer by his racing suit. The two then wrestled each other to the ground.
Crew members from each time piled on. Though, it doesn’t look as though any punches were thrown.

NASCAR reacts to Kansas Speedway fight
In recent years, NASCAR hasn’t penalized or fined drivers when emotions boil outside the race car. They understand the emotion and the passion. But, the sanction still talks to the drivers involved.
Will there be any additional penalties or repercussions for the NASCAR fight?
“No, not for the drivers,” Steve O’Donnell told SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
It’s still unclear if we can expect penalties for the crew members involved. We’ll find out for certain in the Kansas Speedway penalty report that would be released mid-week if needed.
“I know, both of them have talked. They’re friends. I’ve talked to Cole and Richard Childress post-race as well.
“In those situations, the key for us is to make sure that the crew members are not coming in and escalating things. If anything, we’ve just got to go back and look and make sure that’s not the case from our perspective.
“There’s a lot on the line there for the drivers. And we certainly don’t want to encourage that but understand that it gets heated at times.”
“Our thing is to make sure crew members are not getting in there and piling on a driver so to speak vs. trying to deescalate the situation.”
