Hudson O’Neal is looking for a ride in 2020

O’Neal comments on his 2020 dirt late model season

Hudson O’Neal is the 19-year-old son of dirt late model legend Don O’Neal. The Martinsville, Indiana native just recently picked up the win in his favorite race, the Jackson 100.

In the previous four years, Hudson O’Neal has been driving the No. 71 out of the SSI Motorsports stable. For 2020, that will change.

SSI Motorsports is closing shop. Todd Burns, owner of the team put O’Neal in a crate late model for the first time, back in 2016.

In 2017, Hudson O’Neal jumped onto the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series tour. He went on to claim the 2017 Rookie of the Year award. He’s been on the LOLMDS tour ever since.

Hudson O’Neal has piloted an SSI machine in 75 dirt races. In that time they’ve collected five victories, twenty Top-5s and fourty-two Top-10s.

Hudson O’Neal comments on 2020

“As a lot of you are aware, I have been driving for SSI Motorsports and Todd Burns for the last four years,” Hudson O’Neal stated today.

“It has been a pleasure working with such an amazing car owner and all the people that surround that program. I’m saddened to inform that SSI Motorsports and myself will be parting ways after Charlotte and will no longer be racing together for the 2020 season.”

“The motorsports stable will not be fielding a race car next year and they have decided to step away. I am grateful for every minute I have been able to spend with the Burns family and the whole Sub-Surface of Indiana operation. I have built many friendships that will last a lifetime!”

“My 2020 plans are yet to be determined, as I am searching for a new opportunity in the Dirt Late Model community.”

“I want to thank everyone that has made these last four years possible and all the amazing sponsors I have had that helped me live my dream.”

He added, “I also want to thank every single one of my awesome fans that support me. I am far from done and I hope for an opportunity soon. Thank you all again!”
