Truex Jr is perfectly fine with Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano’s altercation stealing the headlines this week
Martin Truex Jr led 464 laps en route to his win at Martinsville Speedway. It was pure domination of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series field.
Truex will now advance into the Championship 4 and have a shot at his 2nd career championship. Seven other drivers are now fighting for the final three spots in the finale.
But, the discussion after the race at the Paperclip isn’t about the race winner. It’s about the altercation between Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin.
Despite that, Truex is all smiles…
Martin Truex Jr on the fight at Martinsville stealing the headlines
“That’s fine. It’s cool,” Martin Truex Jr said of the focus on the fight coverage instead of his race win.
“I’m glad I’m not fighting. I’m glad I won. It’s not only about going to Homestead. This is a huge win for me personally.”
“Part of the reason I was so mad last year, wasn’t because of Homestead. I thought we could still get there. I wanted to win this race at Martinsville. Because it’s been so tough for me.”
“First couple times I came here, we were terrible. To finally get it here, it just feels good.”
Martinsville Speedway gives out a very unique trophy. A massive grandfather clock. Martin Truex Jr already had a place for it, before the green flag dropped.
“In my living room. You’ll be able to see it as soon as you walk in the front door. I’ve actually looked at that spot before and thought, ‘That grandfather clock would look good right there.’ “
