New 2020 Chevy Camaro released for NASCAR Cup Series

There will be a new Chevrolet Camaro on the track in 2020

On Thursday, Chevrolet announced they will be switching from the Camaro ZL1 to the Camaro ZL1 1LE model for the 2020 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season.

The 1LE is essentially a track version of the ZL1.

“The ZL1 1LE is the highest performer within the Camaro production-car lineup,” Jim Campbell, Chevy’s U.S. vice president of Performance and Motorsports, said in a press release.

“We took lessons from the production car and applied them to the new 2020 Cup car,” Campbell concluded.

The model has been improved by employing computational fluid dynamics (CFD), computer simulatio and wind-tunnel testing.

“Introducing our 2020 NASCAR Cup Series car, the Camaro ZL1 1LE. Based on the fastest, most track-capable production Camaro ever, it’ll make its competition debut next February during Daytona Speedweeks, which opens the 2020 NASCAR season,” Team Chevy tweeted.

Team Chevy Drivers: Jimmie Johnson, Kurt Busch, Daniel Hemric, Chase Elliott, Ty Dillon, Kyle Larson, Austin Dillon, Alex Bowman, Chris Buescher, Bubba Wallace, William Byron, Ryan Preece.

The Camaro made it’s NASCAR Cup Series debut at Daytona International Speedway in the 2018 season.
