Texas Race
Stage 1 – Report

Laps: 85

Green flag, they run even into turn one. They remain side by side through turn three. Jones noses ahead as they cross the line to complete lap one.

Harvick drives it deep to the bottom back in turn one, he completes the pass. Denny Hamlin gets loose behind him as Jones holds 2nd.

Lap 9, Chase Elliott is in the wall off turn two! He got loose in the middle lane, the back end stepped out, he went backwards up the hill and he tagged the wall hard with the right rear. The caution is out.

Green, Harvick and Jones remain side by side for a whole lap. They trade side drafts, two laps later. Harvick finally clears him back into turn one.

Lap 15, the caution is out for debris.

Several cars head to the pit lane for fuel. Jones, Blaney, Busch, Logano and others.

Green, Harvick starts from the outside lane and he’s clear before turn one.

Lap 43, Corey LaJoie is in the wall off turn four and the caution is out.

Pit stops

The field heads to the pit lane. The first six cars to the pit exit take fuel only, led by Kevin Harvick. Denny Hamlin is off in 7th, the first car with two tires. Many stay out.

Green, Erik Jones and Clint Bowyer run side by side for the lead. Kevin Harvick works three wide in a hurry as he drives through the cars that stayed out. Clint Bowyer leads.

Lap 53, Brad Keselowski gets loose in the PJ1. Ricky Stenhouse Jr follows him and he spins out as well. Both cars crash independent of each other, in the same corner and the caution is out.

Green, Truex pushes Clint Bowyer to the lead. Harvick continues slicing through the field, he clears Truex to take 2nd away.

Lap 66, Harvick is on the bumper of Bowyer for the race lead.

Lap 71, Corey LaJoie is in the wall once again in turn three. The caution is back out.

William Byron pits from inside the top five, a few others do as well.

Green, Bowyer is clear of Harvick. Busch and Harvick run side by side for 2nd. Harvick wins that battle on the bottom.

5 to go in stage one, Denny Hamlin is sideways off turn four as he’s loose through the PJ1! He slides through the infield grass and picks up light fender damage.

Several head for the pit lane. Truex, Logano and others.

Green, Bowyer and Harvick run side by side into turn one. Harvick noses ahead into turn three.

Stage 2 – Report

Laps: 85

The field heads to the pit lane. Harvick is first in and Blaney is off first with a two tire call. Many cars stay out, Blaney restarts outside the top 10.

Green flag on stage two, Alex Bowman gets the jump.

Lap 99, Jimmie Johnson dives to the bottom into turn one. He runs side by side with Alex Bowman. Johnson completes the pass back into turn one.

Lap 126, Kyle Larson is rolling through the middle groove. He’s driving by the field and up to 8th. Larson has his tires right on the inside edge of the PJ1.

Lap 139, Aric Almirola is on the bumper of Johnson for the race lead. Johnson is held up by lap traffic and Almirola has a run off turn two. Johnson gives him room and Almirola drives by.

Pit cycle

Lap 140, Jimmie Johnson heads for the pit lane. Lap 144, Aric Almirola pits from the race lead for fuel only. He hands it off to Daniel Suarez.

Lap 155, Kyle Busch cycles to the race lead. He pitted under the last caution for fuel only. He now leads with 15 to go in the stage. 9 cars are on the lead lap.

7 to go, Kyle Busch leads Almirola by 18 seconds. But, he heads for the pit lane for a splash of fuel. Busch cycles out in 10th.

Aric Almirola wins stage 2 at Texas Motor Speedway!

Stage 3 – Report

Laps: 164

Almirola leads the field to the pit lane. Suarez is off first with no tires. Erik Jones is off 2nd with two. Harvick will restart outside the top-10 with four tires. Byron stayed out.

Green flag on stage three, Suarez and Byron run even into turn one. They rub doors down the back stretch. Suarez noses ahead on the bottom as Byron gets loose.

Lap 186, Jimmie Johnson and William Byron battle hard for 2nd as they both run down Daniel Suarez. Johnson gets loose on the bottom! He slides up the banking and makes moderate contact with the wall off turn two. The caution is out.

Many heads for the pits. Harvick, Blaney, Truex Jr and more.

Green, Suarez leads into turn one. Garrett Smithley and David Ragan make contact behind them. They slam the wall and the caution flag returns. Smithley got loose on the bottom and lost it.

Harvick returns to the pit lane for more fuel. He’ll restart 19th.

Lap 197

Green, Suarez wins the battle with Byron. Almirola takes over 2nd.

Lap 202, Suarez is attempting to take away the draft. He runs the inside line down the back stretch. Almirola has a run with Kurt Busch giving him a push. Almirola dives to the inside of Suarez and completes the pass for the lead.

Lap 238, Kyle Larson has found speed in the middle groove once again. He’s up to 4th on this long run but he’s loose.

Pit cycle

Lap 239, Kyle Larson heads to the pit lane to begin the pit cycle. Kurt Busch pits as well. Almirola, Jones and Suarez pit on the next lap.

Lap 242, Bubba Wallace has a flat left rear. He spins out on purpose to bring out the caution.

Joey Logano leads the field to the pit lane. Newman is off first with two tires. Kyle Busch is off 2nd with four tires. Aric Almirola will lead them to the restart.

Green flag, Almirola and Suarez run side by side into turn one. Almirola leads on the outside lane off turn two. Harvick runs three wide behind them, Harvick to 3rd.

Lap 255, Almirola is trying to block Harvick. Harvick dives to the bottom in turn three. New leader, Kevin Harvick.

50 to go, Harvick leads Almirola by 3 seconds.

Pit cycle

31 to go, Kyle Larson pits for fuel only. 28 to go, Almirola pits from 2nd for fuel only. Logano pits from 4th for two tires only.

27 to go, Harvick pits from the race lead. Fuel only for Harvick.

22 to go, Harvick cycles back to the race lead. He now leads Almirola by 2 seconds.
