Christopher Bell talks the switch to Tucker-Boat Motorsports

This time, Bell will drive for Tucker-Boat Motorsports after three straight Chili Bowl wins with Keith Kunz Motorsports

Christopher Bell has won three straight Chili Bowl events. This year, a fourth would tie Kevin Swindell’s record.

All three of the previous wins came with Keith Kunz Motorsports. The TRD backed operation fields a whole fleet of machines for the event.

Back in July, Christopher Bell piloted his No. 84 to victory lane at Lincoln Speedway. That trip to victory lane was brought to you by Tucker-Boat Motorsports.

Christopher Bell talks the change from Keith Kunz Motorsports

“I love Pete [Willoughby] and Keith [Kunz], they’re like family to me,” Christopher Bell said in the media center after his win at Texas Motor Speedway.

“Just, for me, I’ve been there, done that and won so many races for Pete and Keith that i just feel like I was set up for failure, going to the race track with them. Because we’ve been so successful in the past.”

“I hated that feeling. For me, going midget racing is about enjoying it and having fun.”

“I want to go there and do both of those things. Chad [Boat] and I have become really good friends over the last year or so. Now, whenever I go to the race tracks with Chad, it’s about enjoying it and having fun. Results are secondary.”

“With Keith Kunz Motorsports, results are primary and I really feel like I was set for failure whenever I was going to the track with them.”

“I really enjoy racing with Chad because it’s just me and my buddy headed out to the dirt track.”

In recent years, it’s been Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell dominating at the front of the famed indoor dirt racing event. To date, both drivers have been driving for the same team.

Kyle Larson will also unload from a different hauler in the 2020 Chili Bowl event. He’ll drive his own No. 1K as driver/car owner.

“It’s going to be a very unique Chili Bowl, for sure. A change of pace, definitely.”

The Chili Bowl Nationals take place January 13-18, 2020. It’s a race that’s seen 1,300 different entries since 1987. To date, only 238 have made the main event and 20 different drivers have won the race prize.
