Jessi Combs Crash: Details released following investigation

Here’s video of Jessi Combs land speed run that will set the record when it’s officially certified

The investigation has concluded following the crash during the land speed record attempt

Jessi Combs died while attempting to set the record for fastest woman on Earth.

Kitty O’Neil held the land speed record of 512.710 mph. That record dated back to 1976 were it was set in the jet powered, three wheeled machine.

On August 27, 2019, Combs unloaded her machine in Fields, Oregon. She was set to use the Alvord Desert to break the record.

In the course of the day she made two runs. One at 515.346 mph and one at 548.432 mph.

Now, she’s the word-record holder. However, the runs need to be certified for the record to be official. They have already been submitted to Guinness.

Jessi Combs lost her life that day following a crash. The Harvey County Sheriff’s Office stated on Monday that their investigation noted a mechanical failure at high speeds as the cause of the crash.

“Based on the evidence collected and examined at the scene of the crash…it appears that there was a mechanical failure of the front wheel, most likely caused from striking an object on the desert,” said the report.

Combs was killed due to blunt-force trauma caused by the crash. Soon after, the vehicle also caught fire.

Combs was 39.

Months ago, video was obtained of a land speed run from earlier in the day.
