Justin Allgaier is chasing a championship this weekend; He went over to the pits of David Starr after he was run up the track early
This weekend, Justin Allgaier unloads at Homestead-Miami Speedway as one of four drivers after a championship in the final race of the season.
The 33-year-old is after his first NASCAR Xfinity Series title. Just last year, he claimed the regular season championship.
To win on any week, you gotta have a perfect weekend.
7 minutes into the opening round of practice, Justin Allgaier collected damage off turn two.
Allgaier looks to the outside of the No. 52 driven by David Starr. As they exited the corner, Starr continued to move toward the wall, like Allgaier wasn’t there.
Immediately, Allgaier was all over the radio button, “We got ran into by the #52. Are you kidding me right now? Are you kidding me. We need a whole left side we just drove right into the side of me.”
David Star Radio: “I didn’t know the #7 was out there. I come up on him and didn’t know he was out there.”
#52 Spotter: “Check that radio down there. David couldn’t hear me the whole time I was talking to him on track.”
Allgaier pulled his car to the garage area. He climbed from his car and walked over to the pit area of David Starr where he was met by Xfinity Series director Wayne Auton.

“I didn’t get to David. The series director came down and asked me what happened. I gave my side of the story. I just wanted to see what was said,” Justin Allgaier told NBC Sports.
“There’s no reason for me to go into somebody else’s pit stall. But, just disappointing. I’m pretty laid back this weekend. I’m pretty focused on just going out there and doing our own thing and being patient.”
“I felt like we were doing that. The #52 had kinda committed to the bottom. I was going to go to the bottom. He kinda moved up and I thought, ‘Oh, he’ll still give me plenty of room on corner exit.’ And he ran right into the side of us.”
“Disappointing to tear up our car. It sucks to have that this early. Proud of the hard work that’s gone into it. Just disappointed that it’s torn up now.”
“We’ll go through it. We just want to make sure that aero-wise, nothing’s damaged. I know the left front fender’s pretty hurt. The left side rocker panel is pretty banged up.”
“Those are all things that make downforce. I got the best crew to fix it.”
Luckily for Justin, rain came in and washed out the track, just moments after the contact. So, as long as the session is hit by rain, his competitors wont have an advantage in more practice time.
