NASCAR Cup Series fines totaled over a half million during the 2019 racing season
Update: Three teams were handed large fines two weeks after the championship race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The data below has been updated to reflect those fines.
28 different NASCAR driver and chief pairings were fined a total of $770,000 in the 2019 racing season. 3 L1 violations and 47 lug nut violations contributed to the totals.

L1 penalties totaled $75,000 in the 2019 season. That’s an 85% decrease over the 2018 season.
Meanwhile, lug nut violations are way up at the conclusion of the 2019 season. Lug nut violations alone totaled $470,000 in 2019. That’s a 67.86% increase over the 2018 season.
Overall, fines decreased slightly over 2018.
