2020 F1 Entry Fees; Highest in history

Winning is really expensive for the Mercedes Formula One Team

Entry fees in the world of F1 are a bit strange. And world domination is expensive.

For the sixth year in a row, the Mercedes F1 Team has claimed the F1 Constructors’ Championship. That brings their championship winning percentage up to 60% in the history of the team.

In 2019, the team scored 80% of the total points available. And that’s the expensive part.

The base F1 entry fee is $556,509. Additionally, returning teams pay plus $5,563 per point. However, the winning team in the constructors championship pays the premium rate of $6,677 per point scored in the 2019.

In 2019, Mercedes took 739 points with the help of championship driver Lewis Hamilton and his teammate Valtteri Bottas.

In 2016, Mercedes actually grabbed more, 765 points. However the rate per point has increased since the 2016 season. The increase has been in place for the past two years. The FIA notes the US Consumer Price Index for the increased.

That means Mercedes is set to pay the highest F1 entry fee in the history of the sport.
