Late Model – Group 1
Qualifying – Report
The track has some character built into it ahead of qualifying. Bobby Bittle flipped in mod division hot laps just ahead of late model qualifying. The was the first flip in his career. He hung a rut into turn one.
Rusty Griffaw is quickest of the first 6 cars to qualify. He rolled right through the ruts on the high side in turn one, on the gas. The car jumped around as he went to the top of the board.
Bobby Pierce had transponder issues on his laps. Officials stopped him as he exited the track. They replaced the transponder and sent him back out for two more laps with the next group.
Several cars are bicycling into turn one. The track is fast and rough for qualifying.
Mike Spatola is the 20th car to qualify. He jumps to the top of the board. Spatola was never off the throttle. He pitched the car at entry to slow it down as he ran the high side the entire lap, on the chip.
Moyer clipped the turn three wall at the entry to the corner. He grabbed the banner and ripped it from the fence. As that happened, Freddie Carpenter went to the top of the board.
Michael Jacober is the next car to catch the fence. The line continues to work higher and higher.
Brandon Sheppard caught the wall with the right rear into turn one. But, he entered so high that it might have been on purpose. He did the same thing again on lap two.
Chad Zobrist nearly rolled into into turn three on his final lap. He was able to save it.
Freddie Carpenter is quickest overall in group 1!
Late Model – Group 2
Qualifying – Report
The crew has gone to work on the track ahead of group 2. They watered and then scratched up the top half of the track. They then packed it back down to smooth it out. The bottom was left alone. A few of the rougher areas were filled in with extra dirt.
We have a brand new race track for group 2.
Mike Glasscock scrapes the wall into turn one. Light damage to his right rear.
12 cars have taken to the track thus far in group 2. Blair Northdurft sits at the top. However, he spun into turn three on his second lap.
Duane Chamberlain ripped his spoiler of on the opening lap. Without a spoiler, he’s 10th of 24 so far.
27 have hit the track. Scott Ward jumps to the top and Kevin Smith takes over 2nd. They were in the same group.
Gordy Gundaker had a transponder issue. Officials replace it and send him back out with the next group.
On his first lap, Shannon Babb jumps to the top of the board. He entered high and cut to the middle on the exit.
Shannon Babb is quickest in group 2!
