Baer Field Motorsports Park closing

Fort Wayne, Indiana racing complex is up for sale

Baer Field Motorsports Park was born in 1964. Today, it’s a multi-purpose racing facility in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Track address: 4331 Winters Rd Fort Wayne, IN 46809

The track has hosted a wide range of events. Those include asphalt and dirt oval races. Currently, the complex features a 1/2-mile, 3/8-mile asphalt oval dirt track and karting track.

The 3/8-mile sits inside the bigger 1/2-mile track. Inside the 3/8-mile sat a smaller dirt oval track.

In addition, the parking lot is fitting with a dirt karting track.

The current promoters have run the track for the last 5 years. In mid December, they were set to make an announcement about the 2020 schedule.

Following a meeting with the property owners, they were informed that the track would not be available for lease in 2020. The race track is now for sale.

Race Promotions Inc is the current deed holder of the facility. They are based in Colorado.

Dave Muzzillo, the current promoter now has to vacate the property by December 31st, 2019.

“I met, two weeks ago today, with the representative of the company who owns the property. And we went through a lot of stuff,” Dave Muzzillo stated via facebook live.

“A week later, I get back from the PRI show. I get a registered letter telling us that the lease will not be renewed and that we need to vacate the property. The property will be up for sale.”

“There will be no racing at Baer Field in 2020. Unless somebody wants to write an extremely big check. The amount that we were told was just really unacceptable.”

“I’ve spent thousands of dollars on legal fees to try to keep the facility going. There will be more thousands to move forward.”

“It’s totally heartbreaking. We were totally blindsided by the whole thing. It was a slap in the face.”

“It was explained to me that they do not want to be absentee land owners. They do not live in the state of Indiana. They want to sell the property.”

“I’m going to say right now that this place will never function again. A night in shining armor actually needs to come riding in to save the place.”

“We talked in 2018 about relocating the facility because of what needs to be done here. Everything, needs to be rebuilt.”

The gates will be opened, one last time. On December 31st at midnight until 4pm, the gates will be opened. Fans are welcome to come and take a walk around the race track for what will likely be the last time.
