Chili Bowl
Main Event – Report

Chris Windom and Tucker Klaasmeyer set the front row for the main event. They get a push to the race track.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr will start in 3rd, Daryn Pittman starts 4th, Donny Schatz starts 12th and Justin Allgaier will start 16th. Conor Daly missed the main event with issues in the B Main.

Lots of chaos in the hot lap session. Several cars were forced to stop on the track, including the pole sitter of Windom. He will get his spot back.

It’s a stacked feature event. 30 laps of dirt midget racing are up next…

Green flag, Windom gets the jump on the bottom and he’s clear into turn one. Klaasmeyer bobbles into turn one and he loses several spots.

Lap 2, the caution is out.

Green, Windom leads Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Most of the field runs the bottom early.

Lap 4, Windom kicks it to the cushion. The bottom is wide open for Stenhouse. He fills the inside lane and drives right by on the bottom. Windom falls to 3rd before he’s able to get back to the bottom.

Lap 6, the yellow is back out. Two cars have tangled and come to a stop on the track.

Green, Ricky Stenhouse Jr leads Tanner Thorson.

Lap 13, Ricky Stenhouse Jr runs high then low, he’s changing it up every corner. Thorson is crossing and doing the opposite.

Lap 15, Stenhouse Jr battled with lap traffic. He gets pinned behind a lapper and Thorson drives by on the inside lane. Two cars tangle and the caution is out once again. Stenhouse will get the lead back as the lap was not completed.

Green, Stenhouse pulls a wheelie to the start finish line. He holds the lead through turn one.

Stenhouse knocks the cushion into turn three and he bicycles. As he gathers it up, Thorson drives by on the bottom. Windom slides Stenhouse for 2nd.

Lap 17, car stopped on the track and the caution is back out.

Green, issues for Stenhouse as he has a flat right rear tire after contact with Klaasmeyer on the restart. The yellow is back out.

Green, Thorson heads for the top. Klaasmeyer drives it deep to the bottom and slides him for the lead. They cross and Thorson takes it back.

Lap 20, Klaasmeyer slides him once again. He’s not clear, barely. They make contact, the entire top lane is stacked up and on the brakes. They all continue but the bottom lane drove by them all. Give Ryan Bernal the lead.

Contact behind them as the field remains bunched up into the next corner., Andrew Layser flips and the caution is out.

Green, Bernal runs the bottom. Thorson runs the top. Justin Allgaier has climbed to 3rd.

Lap 24, Thorson pulls even with the leader. Bernal moves to the top to take the line away, Thorson crosses to the bottom and slides him for the race lead.

Lap 27, Windom moves to 2nd. Thorson leads by 2 car lengths.

Lap 29, Windom attempts the slider. He pulls even but can’t clear him. Bernal retakes 2nd.

Tanner Thorson takes the win in the Chili Bowl Nationals!
