Report

Laps: 80

Green flag, Self leads on the inside lane.

Trouble down the back! Andy Seuss is sideways through the infield grass into turn three. He slides back across the track, in front of the field. Two cars stack up as they try to avoid him.

Seuss started in 2nd. He was trying to force his way to the inside lane and wasn’t clear. The caution is out.

Green, Self and Dave Mader run even into turn one. Self powers to the lead in the inside as they head down the back.

Lap 9, David Gravel has a run on Hailie Deegan. Gravel makes it three wide on the outside but his run stalls. The entire field goes by him on the bottom and Gravel picks up the tail, last.

Lap 13, the caution is out as Jason Kitzmiller is up in smoke.

Green, Self has selected the outside lane for the restart. But, he gets a huge push from Connor Hall. Self is clear and he drops to the bottom in turn one.

Hall remains on the outside lane. He pulls even with Self but he eventually loses momentum.

Lap 18, Brad Smith is up in smoke. He spins in oil and the caution is out once again.

Pit stops

The pit lane is open and most of the leaders head for the pit lane. Self is in first but will restart in 9th as the pit crew bobbled a bit on the stop. Tanner Gray leads them to the restart.

Penalty: Drew Dollar carried the fuel can out of his box. He entered the pits in 2nd.

Green, Gray is clear and he drops to the bottom before turn one. Sean Corr remain on the outside lane. He powers right by. Gray opened too big of a gap on the bottom and had no help as the field drives by.

Lap 30, Corr leads on the inside lane. Gray and Deegan have been building momentum on the outside lane. They close on the front cars, inch by inch.

Lap 32, they are there! Gray works toward the lead rear of the leader. Corr moves up to try and block. Gray looks to his outside and Bret Holmes looks to the inside. They split the race leader. Holmes takes the lead!

Big one

Lap 39, as the field attempts to maneuver a lap car, they all stack up. The leaders got by but 8th on back are involved. The lap car rolled the inside lane and forced the field to juggle around him. The red flag is out.

Most of the field heads for the pit lane. Fuel only for most of the field. Self is first out. Gray put on new tires, the only car to do that.

Green, Self leads on the inside lane with a push from Riley Herbst.

Lap 50, Self, Herbst and Holmes have broken away at the front. They run side by side behind them as the leaders continue to open a gap.

Chuck Hiers is in the wall down the back stretch! Deegan was giving him a push off turn two. She pulled out of line down the back and clipped him in the right rear and turned him into the outside wall. The caution is out.

Green, Self gets the jump with a big push from Holmes. Self had his hand out the window to coordinate that.

20 to go

20 to go, the top seven cars run nose to tail around the bottom.

11 to go, Tanner Gray is smoking badly. ARCA officials black flag him and force him to the pit lane under green. He was inside the top five.

10 to go, the caution is out. There’s tire debris on the track, now oil as well and Gravel has lost a door. Officials force Gravel to pit from 9th.

It will be a 4 lap shootout.

Green, Michael Self is clear on the bottom. Hailie Deegan is on his bumper as they open a gap to 3rd.

3 to go, Holmes and Dollar run side by side for 3rd. Dollar takes that spot and tucks onto the bumper of Deegan.

Final lap, the top five run single file around the inside lane.

Single file off turn two and into turn three.

Michael Self wins at Daytona International Speedway!
