NASCAR Truck Series results from Daytona International Speedway

Tonight, the NASCAR Truck Series takes center stage. The truckers will open their 2020 racing season on the 2.5-mile oval.

There’s a light delay in the schedule. A rain shower rolled in ahead of the race. 45 minutes later than scheduled, we’re going racing.

Riley Herbst and Brett Moffitt lead the field to the starting line. 100 laps of the NASCAR Gander RV and Outdoors Truck Series is up next…

Riley Herbst leads them to green in the Daytona Truck race

Stage 1 – Report

Laps: 20

Green flag, Herbst gets the jump with a push from Christian Eckes.

Lap 2, the entire outside lane have fallen outside the top 10. The inside lane runs nose to tail, single file.

Lap 6, Ben Rhodes leaves the bottom and attempts to catch the nose of Brett Moffitt to lead the outside lane. Rhodes gets loose and the outside lane works around him. Rhodes drops through the center, they split him high and low.

Lap 9, Derek Kraus is slow. He heads to the pits under green.

Lap 16, trouble on the front stretch! Ty Majeski is upside down and sliding on his roof. The red flag is out.

Todd Gilliland was on the bumper of Tate Fogleman through the tri-oval. Fogelman got loose and chased it up the banking, clipping the left rear of Austin Wayne Self.

Self got sideways from the outside lane. As he came across the track, he clipped the right rear of Majeski and it flipped him. Majeski slid on his roof from the start finish line and all the way into turn one.

13th on back head for the pit lane. Raphael Lessard leads that group to the pit exit.

It will be a one lap shootout to the end of stage one…

Green, Riley Herbst swings from the top to the bottom and leads into turn one. Tyler Ankrum has a run on the top off turn four. Ankrum gets loose as they bang on his rear bumper.

Riley Herbst wins stage one by a few feet.

Stage 2 – Report

Laps: 20

The rest of the field heads for the pit lane. Sauter slides through his box, he’ll lose a bunch of spots. Christian Eckes is out first.

Green, Grant Enfinger leads on the inside line with a push from Sheldon Creed.

Lap 34, Sheldon Creed moves to the outside lane. With help from Brett Moffitt, they nose ahead on the top.

6 to go in stage two, Enfinger fights back on the bottom. Creed tries a side draft to pull him back but it doesn’t work. Codie Rohrbaugh is around off turn four, no caution.

Coming to the white flag, Enfinger leads Ben Rhodes. The top five remain single file around the bottom.

Grant Enfinger takes the win in stage two!

Stage 3 – Report

Laps: 60

The field heads for the pit lane. Enfinger is first in and Rhodes is first to the pit exit.

Penalties: Sauter and Eckes will go to the back for pit road penalties.

Green, Austin Hill works the outside lane. Ben Rhodes leads the inside lane. They run even. Enfinger pushes him Hill to the front. Hill drops to the bottom and leads on the inside lane now.

47 to go, Austin Hill finally pulls clear on the bottom. But, it’s going to be short lives. Enfinger side drafts and pulls Hill right back to him. Two by two at the front.

45 to go, Hill gets too far ahead of his drafting partner. Enfinger drives by on the outside then he drops to the bottom and now Enfinger leads on the inside lane.

Big crash

Lap 66, Angela Ruch attempts to roll the middle between Kraus and Ankrum. The hole closses in a hurry. Ruch is around and several trucks are collected.

The field heads for the pit lane. Stewart Friesen is the first one to the pit exit.

Green, Friesen leads on the bottom. Enfinger leads the line on the top. They run even off turn two.

The outside line has the momentum into turn three. Enfinger leads but he leads by three car lengths.

That’s too much! The field splits Enfinger, high and low. He falls to 13th as Stewart Friesen takes the lead.

21 to go, Ben Rhodes pulls even with the race leader on the outside lane.

20 to go

20 to go, Todd Gilliland gives a shove to Ben Rhodes on the outside lane. Rhodes is clear but he stays on the outside lane.

17 to go, Friesen gets loose as he clips the apron in turn four. Friesen is sideways but the field splits him without contact.

15 to go, the top seven trucks run single file. Ben Rhodes holds the lead.

12 to go, Todd Gilliland moves to the outside with help from behind. Rhodes pulls up to block that run. Meanwhile, Creed is connected on the bottom lane and he gets a push to the front.

11 to go, Rhodes fights back on the top. The field is back to two by two.

10 to go

10 to go, Rhodes is handed a huge push through the tri-oval. He gets sideways but remains in the throttle and noses ahead into turn one.

6 to go, Lessard is on the bumper of Creed and he pushes him to the lead. Lessard is sideways off turn four and he spins. No caution as he collects it.

Ben Rhodes moves back to the lead.

Coming to 4 to go, Todd Gilliland leaves the bumper of Rhodes and heads for the bottom. Rhodes turns into him with a late block and they rub doors at the lane.

The field forms 3 wide.

Big crash at Daytona

3 to go, Rhodes is turned in the middle lane just as Sauter gets to his bumper off turn four. Rhodes spins down the banking, clips Gilliland and most of the field is crashed.

It’s going to be the first attempt at a green-white-checkered finish. Enfinger and Hill will lead to the restart.

Green, Enfinger leads on the bottom.

White flag, they run bumper to bumper. Ross Chastain moves to the top and Enfinger throws a huge block on him.

Chastain is sideways in front of the field but he makes light contact with the wall. Enfinger holds the lead.

Jordan Anderson has a run on Enfinger off turn four! He looks to the outside. Enfinger turns into his door and that stalls his momentum.

Grant Enfinger noses back ahead and he takes the win at Daytona!
